It's about ethics in provocation. I'm actually all for discourse about a movie, the imagery and I'm even of the opinion there's something worthwhile to ponder the real life impact of fiction... I can’t believe people making the video game comparisons are serious. The video game panic in the 90s was over campy and schlocky video games that were overtly violent in some instances, but generally detached from reality and never attached to a serious ideology. This movie is very close to real life ideologies that are quite problematic in our society and can be easily seen as glorifying them. Then again, I guess it seems perfect for people who can’t understand that nuance.

Yeah I was thinking of Network earlier too, someone on ERA made a thread a couple of days ago opening with the Ned Beatty speech and pointing out that the fade out to an US flag at the end was added by the uploader and not from the original film. It's a great example of a film that must be viewed in full because taking the Forces of Nature, or the Mad as Hell or many other bits (the biting satire of the Communist activists led by Angela Davis) out of context might actually make the meaning radically opposed to the intent.
