I mean yeah the clickbait stuff is the only way these publications can actually survive. It sucks though. Putting aside the "loltaku" stuff. Jason Schreier has mentioned it himself that there is no way they could keep the site going if they didn't do plenty of superfluous articles. Think it was in a more recent SuperBunnyHop youtube video.

Around 13:20 and then it gets to the expose articles around 15:30

Why act like assholes when people mention that their clickbait shit gets people pissed off? Even if is a “necessary evil”, most of Gawker generation writters seem wired to pass stuff like this like “decent enough”. For every Jason exposure there is 20 Patricia Hernandez clickbait shit.

I don't really have anything to add to that other than both variations of  :yeshrug :trumps

I mean, I’m supposed target demographic that Gawker alumni tries to appeal, and I think don’t have a high opinion of them or their place in the industry.

If anything, printing unsourced gossipy libel and revenge porn made the entire industry better, and there were no drawbacks to doing that as a business model, other than that one huge fucking one which tanked the company
The posting of a sex tape was scummy as fuck and claiming that it had news value after they were asked to take it down was pretty  :-\ . That fuck up was truly something. To think if a company like Gizmodo would publish Fappening leaks and then defend it with "newsworthiness"  :lol :lol :lol . Couldn't even fathom that.

That's fair. I can't even recall the last time I actually went to Kotaku other than when someone provided a link to an article. I'm not a Kotaku reader either.

The Gawker writing playbook is completely played out. A relic of the 2010’s that won’t be missed. There is literally a style book that dictates the premise of their stories and you see it repeated over and over and over again. None of it is worthwhile.

This is a Good thing.

Are they implying that if they had the opportunity to be a landlord, and essentially have free money, they wouldn't take it, but instead turn their property into a homeless shelter?  ::)

I'd believe them only if that homeless shelter was a cover for a homeless fight-club ring.

EDIT: To be clear, i'd also want to kill all rich people, but mostly because i'd want their money.

And  :lol at any of these losers actually turning their property into a homeless shelter. These are the ones who are suddenly busy when asked by others about getting out and protesting. “Protest? Can’t, the new MAHVEL movie is out today. Stay safe out there though!”

I don't like the rising cost of living outstripping income and escalating wealth inequality.
But I also don't like the lean towards I exist and therefore I deserve X, Y, Z and onward.

Around here, immigrants hustle, save up money and some want to get somewhere so they want in on investment and that includes picking up rental properties. I don't feel any negativity towards them, if anything it just fits the worldview Conservatives have and therefore their voter base have of progressives/leftists. The immigrant and poors shouldn't have to put up with lots of shit to get anywhere but I don't like to punish and eliminate the ability of people to actually accomplish or get somewhere.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/lgbtq-when-you-came-out-did-you-get-a-lot-of-questions-about-your-sex-life.150025/

Quote
I'm 39, married, and I recently came out as bisexual. For the most part it has gone really well, but as I have more and more conversations about it with people, something inevitably happens that has been bothering me. I feel like people I have told seem to think that my telling them my sexuality immediately gives them a free pass to ask really personal questions about my sex life. I don't mind this from some people, like some really close friends. I didn't mind fielding those kinds of questions from them. We talk about personal stuff all the time. But...my mom? My hairdresser? People I barely know? My daughter's best friend's parents???

Am I overreacting about this? Like sometimes I have no problem just saying "that's none of your business," but not every time. Is this a common experience for those who are out? I feel like the fact that I am in a heterosexual marriage might have something to do with it, but just because I am married surely doesn't give my mother the go-ahead to ask me if this means I'm sleeping with guys on the regular?? Maybe some mother/child relationships are like that, but my mom is not exactly a sex-positive person. We've hardly talked about sex at all, ever.

I thought I was going to get more "pit stop to being gay"-type statements, and I actually haven't gotten much of that (only from my gay massage therapist and his boyfriend, in fact). But I am really just surprised at the variety of inquiries about my sex life. Anyone else deal with this?

Quote
I am the only one who said that. It is specific to our arrangement.

So, I am bisexual. My wife is not, nor does she have the desire to fool around with other guys. I am free to engage in a limited number of sex acts with other people, but only men, and only following a strict set of guidelines.

Since she's not getting anything out of it - other than the stories, which she enjoys greatly - I'd describe it as "semi-open." It's not an official term or anything.

Maybe she reads gaf :teehee

for real, once people you know start getting chunks of their pay removed by taxes they get quite the interesting set of beliefs
I also feel for that reason fiscal conservativeness shouldn't inherently be a right-wing thing, you should imagine yourself taking 50% of the income or whatever number from average people by force so you always feel a sense of responsibility to best use that money

oh, and responsible usage of that isn't the normal conservative approach of the trickle-down-failonomics

This is why people are always better off receiving unemployment than having a job, unemployment produces 500% of value for the same dollars as wages because it is spent more superiorly. (Source: Nancy Pelosi)

This same economic fact is why closing likely unproductive discussion is essential to the overall benefit of the community.

There's no reason to do income tax anymore. The economic system keeps itself running and we've increased liquidity in the global market to a point that there's no difference between a 1 trillion or 10 trillion deficit.

FACT CHECK: The state can run on autopilot with a monkey behind the wheel and it wouldn't make any difference
You are not an authorized fact checker on The Bire, please cease and desist from using official The Bire fact checker tools or you will face legal action at The Hague.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Tomorrow 71 dump trucks and hundreds of construction companies will take over the city of The Hague.  8)

What if the person lives there? This might be different experiences talking here, but here in NYC (and many other cities) plenty of people rent out another unit in their home. Not all landlords are evil billionaires. Many are people trying to pay off their mortgage.
Fair point, haven't really thought that way.

If you own property to rent, you have significant financial assets by definition.

90% of landlords are scum and should be burned at the stake

:trumps

I had to call the property management company in charge of my complex because the piece of shit lady in charge of the local office told me that the maintenance crew wouldn't be able to fix my ac unit because it was "too cold outside" to tell. It was fucking 85 degrees out in July.

Her dumb ass has since been fired and I'm just gonna assume it was because of me and the multiple google reviews mentioning her by name, complete fucking sociopath.

My previous apartment tried to keep my deposit because of water damage caused by a leak in the pipes that I asked to get repaired multiple times and they never attempted, which was increasing my water bill and was the entire reason I ended my lease.

Landlords contribute nothing to this world and they can burn in hell tbh.
