Young Turks must be thinking about changing their name these days.
This made me finally look up the origin of the name, and it appears there's been grounds for concellation for a long time:
Quote
According to Cenk Uygur, the name of the show was chosen because it is a popular colloquialism.[74] According to the American Heritage Dictionary, one definition of a Young Turk is "a young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party."[75][76] The name was earlier used by a rebellious group of Congressmen within the Republican Party, of which Gerald Ford was a prominent member, who had become disenchanted with the course of the Party during the early 1960s as well as other political groups around the world. However, the Young Turks show has been criticized for the name, as the original Young Turks political movement committed the Armenian Genocide,[74] and that in 1991 Cenk Uygur wrote an article in The Daily Pennsylvanian in which he promoted Armenian Genocide denial.[77] In 2016, he rescinded these statements, arguing: "My mistake at the time was confusing myself for a scholar of history, which I most certainly am not. I don’t want to make the same mistake again, so I am going to refrain from commenting on the topic of the Armenian Genocide, which I do not know nearly enough about."[78]

RE pretending cancel culture is an alt right thing is full blown gaslighting. All forms of the right revel in hypocrisy and therefore are immune to cancel culture and the only time they engage in it is to troll lefties, who do all the cancelling on their own without any need of a push from righties. Cancel culture is almost entirely woke slacktivists in every example you can come up with.
Maybe I'm just not caught up (I'm not), but how is it different from any prior form of social ostracism? I've alway treated it as one of those social media rebranding drum beats of age-old human behaviour and quitely rolled my eyes at it.

There was a big protest in Toronto where trans rights activists were protesting a talk by a femenist author that doesn't consider trans women women.

I mean it was only a matter of time before the granularity of wokeness caught up to the left willingness to protest their own.

A TERF being protested by trans rights activists seems pretty standard and not like some woke culture gone wrong.

Where did I say that? I just pointed out that one elft faction is protesting another left faction.

I thought you were implying they were eating their own, no? But I don't see that really being the case in that example of the Toronto protest you mentioned.

Call outs also wouldn't be needed if dudes that do illegal/bigoted shit actually get locked up etc.

It is same shit as "cancel culture" there isn't really such a thing. Cus 99% time nothing gets done.

If I could lock people up for things that aren't illegal and I don't like, I wouldn't harass people so much (probably)

I was. Your phrasing threw me off I guess. Wednesdays! If you want to divide everything in to right vs left, and you fight within your own circle, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously. It makes the left look broken.

And both the protesters and the target represent demographics that sit on the left side of the spectrum. Classically, at least. I don't get how you can deny that.

That's not to say that the activists are wrong. But, my point stands. It's infighting.

No. Most people took a wait and see approach with Etika. The threads about his homophobia here were not unanimous. Many spoke to his mental illness, it was a well known issue. That was only here. In general he wasn't even close to being cancelled. His reddit was always poppin', his streams got a ton of views, he wasn't perma banned on Twitch. His community was always supportive and wanting him to get help. He wasn't cancelled.

Imagine a world where everyone is able to buy a new PS5. With 20 games.  Every.  single.  month.  That's 60 games in 3 months.  You can mix and match: sometimes you want some new Dota clothes for your character.  Sometimes you want to purchase the new gay Overwatch character a new, maroon, Chesterfield velvet coat.  Pretty nice, right?  Now ask yourself, 'What do we have to do to get Andrew Yang into office?'

I mean, 99 percent of people hate doing that and they do it under duress for scraps while the rich keep getting richer and exploiting everyone under the sun.

How can anyone defend capitalism when schools are useless degree mills, trades will all be automated soon enough and you are always at 100 percent downside for losing a job and having to be humiliated by the "safety" nets.

I am not advocating for everyone, with or without a job to live a life of luxury by doing nothing (would be nice tho!) but you shouldnt need labor to not jeopardize your life.

How can anyone defend capitalism? Its the most pernicious system ever foisted upon mankind. Its the source of all ills and all evils and its staunchest architects and defenders are disgusting peope who would let you die and suffer if that means they can pass another tax break or get some kickback money.

They say capitalism and democracy are the lesser forms of evil but thats the worst euphemism out there.

How else can you describe a noxious system where totally artificial made up concepts (i.e money) get to decide the fate of everyone and the course of their lives?

Its pathetic to say the least that as the world is heading towards an irreversible climate catastrophy, things are getting even worse.

cal arts style is terrible.

I don't mind Gravity Falls but man the general 2010's cartoon designs pretty much suck outside of like Adventure Time and Regular Show.

Gumball is fantastic.

And replace it with...?

Come on, guys. I get what you're aiming for and I'm not trying to knock your ideas of a perfect society but none of you seem to have plans beyond this that are actually feasible in a world with free will, because free will means you're free to choose, so people can choose to not help you out.
Then we need a benevolent dictator who knows better. If people want to elect Trump, get people off healthcare, persecute others, etc then they should be stripped of all voting rights.

Voting should be the reserve of those who want the best for humanity and the planet.

Replace dictator with an advanced AI if you will. If peoples views clash with rationality and whats best for mankind and human race, they shouldnt have a right to vote. Look at where it brought us. You have fucking Trump as the president and people threatening a civil war if he is impeached. These people are retarded.
In fact all right wingers are retarded

Don't they remember how that microsoft AI turned out as soon as it was exposed to the internet?

Their advanced AI dictator would be posting Joker memes and asking about black on black crime
