Did Nintendo ever fix the bug on Wii U that made everything like 30% darker as if the screen is paused and if you unpause for a brief moment the correct contrast ratio flickers?
Because when I played Wii U VC games it felt like someone had turned off the lights in Nintendoland to save some money or something.

not when I last played it

But my superior Nintendo emulation!

By the way, check out CRT shaders for Retroarch that can simulate different types of CRT displays and connections (RF, composite, RGB, s-video).
There don't seem to be any good videos on youtube demonstrating it, but you get the idea if you watch this (in hi res, full screen)

At about 6 minutes in, you can see a fantastic RGB CRT shader that's really close to the real thing.

The American lineup sucks. How do you make this without Splatterhouse? Could they not get the license?

Will grab the JP one if the emulation is good. Is Snatcher better on PC Engine or PS1?

Yeah I’m confused.

The US trailer says 50 games and at the end says 24 TG16 games and 25 PC Engine games. PC engine video lists 25 games so it seems US gets US and JP games bundled in? If so, could be the best mini system.

The JP lineup is crazy. I would've bought a Western one if it had translated those titles. Even if Snatcher is also on the US one, what's the point of that game in Japanese.

Kinda random but seeing Kangeroo Bomberman here makes me wish Sega did a Saturn-Mini with 8 player bomberman.

I just saw JP version on the YT thumbnail so guess so but kind of a konami decision. I mean if we end up with everything untranslated hey neato, but if they would actually go back and translate some of this it would sell out instantly.

I never got the hesitation with translations. How much do translators get paid that they make ROM dumps apparently unprofitable?

Many of those games on pc engine side are already translated though, just on different systems. Konami has the script for Snatcher Sega CD. They’ve got the script for Dracula X from Dracula X Chronicles PSP. Shit they just recently release DracuX on that collection.

Translations aren't cheap, but still waaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than VA work. I'd guess something between $20,000-$80,000 depending on the game but that may be a little high. I mean if it's a NES action game with like 200 lines of dialogue it's probably closer to like $5k. But like Snatcher would be a lot more. Also this is including the cost of an editor too.

So apparently the units are all exactly the same and will have all the games available.  That means the "50" games includes two of the same titles in English and Japanese.  Konami gonna FucKonami as usual.

If true, I'll probably get the PCE version then.  Much better design.

Sony bungled the psx classic and Konami did so well with those anniversary collections what with including a fucked CV I rom that I can't really blame anyone for being skeptical about the potential quality of this thing. If it sucks it'll be cheaper in a few months and if it's good I doubt there'll be so much demand for it that it'll be hard to come by.

Hmm, maybe she hacked it already - or got some sort of special one?  She's had companies send her swag before as she's known as a big retro gaming geek.  Half of her tweets are her playing older games.

The tweet translates as "PC Engine mini fun" and the video is of Devil's Crash.

The whole Konami boycott doesn't even make sense unless you're one of those weird Kojima drones. Hardly anyone cared when they stopped making classic IPs many years before letting go of Kojima, but only the latter caused a widespread reaction.

At the end of the day, it's a company that found that their IP isn't profitable anymore for classic games - what can you say against that? It sucked, but they will only be proven wright if an actual decent product of theirs flops too :yeshrug And then we aren't going to get any closer to a real Silent Hill remastered trilogy.  :brain

It says "PC Engine Archives" in the background- does the Mini say that?  If not, she's just messing around with emulation or an 'archives' release on another platform.

beat em up classics, arcade classics, suikoden, silent hill, rocket knight adventures, goemon. Recently released Contra and Castlevania Collection.

I need a suikoden and goemon collection.

What a baffling question. Konami used to a GOAT developer. Fuck them for sucking Metal Gear and Kojima's dick as everything else went down in flames.

Put old game compilations and whatever aside.

What has Konami done besides release a soccer and (Japanese) baseball game or two and fuck up Metal Gear?  I don't trust them to do much of anything right besides re-release older stuff...which is only good because M2 has done it.  :doge
