I think the majority of the game takes place outside Kamurocho so that could be it? I'm up to chapter 4 now, really enjoying it. I'm playing with Japanese VA becuase you're not supposed to play these games in english, right?

In unexpected news the new Space Jam movie has a game tie-in. Free day 1 on gamepass. Streets of Rage/Final Fight clone. Could be OK for a quick playthough and if the completion is easy.

Yakuza 1 on PS2 had a relatively big English cast (Michael Madsen, Mark Hamill, Eliza Dushku).
It still seems like THE series to play in Japanese though.

You don't get an English option except in Yakuza 1 (PS2) and Judgment, anyway

Played the demo on Steam a year ago (?). Felt good. The constant weapon changing is fun, but as you might imagine, it can be difficult to judge how a pot plant compares to a club.

It's pretty too, even though it's supposed to be parodying corporate art.

Games with Gold has been largely ignorable with the advent of gamepass, but Midway Arcade Origins compilation for the 360 is free in July. I'll scoop this as there's some decent titles here and it's good to have these kinds of things on your HDD for local coop. Plus the achievements look easy

Pillars 1 is the best crpg in the last two decades. I'll fight anyone that tries to name anything better. The character writing and the world building are second to none. Really good questing too. It's more than a bit derivative of Baldur's Gate in structure and D&D/BG in combat (though Pillars II combat is a lot more original and improved), but the writing is really, really good.

The DLCs are excellent as well and build up Pillars II, which doesn't really deliver but is still a good game too.

I guess Act I is a little slow, but that's always been the case for crpgs so it doesn't feel slow to me.

And most people think Torment is bad.

crpgs are pretty subjective. Like having just played D:OS2 this year I'd say with no doubt D:OS2 plays better than Pillars 1. But for me story/characters/writing is king in an rpg and Pillars 1 is still the best there. Durance is the best written videogame character almost...ever?

Avellone is apparently a total shithead and cancelled from the industry because of that which as a side effect is gonna bring down the overall writing in crpgs since as shitty as he is he was one of the best rpg writers in the industry and had a hand in a lot of crpgs.

That and I felt it didn't really take many chances with the fantasy worldbuilding. Tyranny was shorter and had a really interesting setup, POE2 had a better story and more diverse world.

Game Pass has too many games.

Not a bad problem to have, but I keep installing shit every week and haven't even booted any of them. Installed Cris Tales; The Ascent, now Art of Rally and Boyfriend Dungeon. There's other stuff I'd install too if I'd actually play it like replaying Katamari w/Reroll or Lumines. Project Wingman & Last Stop seem interesting too.

Just too many damn games! I think I used Game Pass more when it had like one game worth playing a month.

I like the tone and art style, but the combat felt uneven and button mashy. Maybe it is better balanced than I've felt; I mean, I think Tekken is a button-mashy series, too.

FYI if you have a phone or tablet, Microsoft Solitaire is on GamePass now and that means you get no ads, and you get double XP etc

Also has achievements. The bonus XP/coins helps with the daily challenges and you can go back in time to do previous months.
