i agree re: software emu for PS3, but no-one here was really gunning for that? there's been enough work on psx/2 bc on x86 platforms i would like to see it as a standard inclusion. ps3 architecture was so fucking weird, i would never wish for proper emulation of that shite. would be hilarious if it wasn't compatible with ps4 titles.
it's not about what ps5 could do for the games, it's about software people like being playable on hardware that's supported and lowering barrier to entry for the classics. gaming is no longer some niche shit for people that are proud of their console collection and separate crt for the classics. emulation on pc, or buying old consoles and 2nd hand copies of old games is not ideal imo. i love that emu on pc will also be a thing, but i think platform holders have a duty, where reasonable (again, fully agree ps3 emu is not reasonable but i didn't think that was the discussion) to support legacy software.
