Pretty much the thread title. I try to be an ally as best I can. I teach bias training and unconscious bias and microaggressions so that people will be more aware of the impacts of things that they say. I have a significant group of POC in my department that have expressed appreciation for what I try to do, I feel that I've built a level of trust that I can't really describe.

I know that I am not perfect and I don't claim to know everything. I will never be able to understand the level of discrimination and racism that POC deal with on a daily basis and am still largely ignorant to their struggles.

But I was thinking about this recently because I have a good open relationship with some of my coworkers and I have started saying this when we do something really stupid or is just something to shake your head over.

My question is saying Fucking White People when calling out our stupidity ok to say or is it looked at as appropriation? I don't want to offend anyone.

My only worry is obviously then these scumbag companies have access to all that info, so I don't know the ins and outs. My biggest issue is the “dungeons” feel like someone mashed copy paste for a few minutes using a handful of art assets and called it a day. FFX did a much better job crafting environments that felt like actual places despite being just as linear.

Saw the movie this morning.

As far as analyzing a film within the backdrop of all others films created since the invention of the motion picture, all the critiques are correct. The plot, full of holes. The pacing, incredibly too schizophrenic. Carrie Fisher, much too forced. The fan-service, in your face.

But for someone who has grown up with Star Wars since the beginning, this is not just "a film". For someone who has consumed virtually every piece of EU material since Splinter in the Mind's Eye, this is not just "a film". For someone whose very way of life -- the hobbies they chose, their approach to popular media, the lens through which they view the world, their notion of good versus evil -- has been influenced by Star Wars to a greater degree than any other artistic creation, this is not just "a film".

The Rise of Skywalker is an incredibly flawed movie, perhaps even objectively mediocre, but having waited 40 wonderful years for the story to end, I find myself asking for nothing more at its conclusion. I have an indelible smile on my face. I am a Star Wars fanboy now and for ever more. I am content.
