It drives me batty how off the top of their head they can recite the percentage of black people arrested year by year and know of every wrongly convicted person but their knowledge of judicial basics is worse than your average Law and Order viewer.  Or a cop will rape 15 women, there will be physical evidence from all the victims and testimony, the police force will refuse to support him and their response is, "he was found guilty but just wait till the appeal!"  "I bet the governor pardons him."   

And of course if you point out the obvious you are called the dumb one.

random semi related story because why not: our high school didn't even have any kind of awards like that except homecoming king and queen, and that was just a formality because nobody cared so like it was based on only tens of votes or some shit, but senior year when they sent out the things I read it for some reason and realized you could easily nominate anyone because of the low threshold and our circle tried to promote nominating this semi-random dude*, he didn't win or even get close it was like 48%-40%-12% on the vote since we didn't want to mess with the part people actually cared about and he didn't want to win, but his nominations swamped everyone by a massive amount (he had like six times the nominations of the person who won the vote, and only like a fourth of the people who nominated him voted for him) so they still admonished the class for "not taking student events seriously"
