"friendly reminder in times of uncertainty and misinformation: anecdotes are not data."
Posted on Twitter... a platform largely used to post tweets that are links to stories nobody reads, instead people just end up reading the "hot take" on the story in the tweet itself. lol
Well yeah... that’s exactly the kind of place where you would want to reinforce the idea that a random hot take is not something you should blindly accept, share and parrot. I know desperately shying away from critical introspection is the purple way but now is not the time.
Not criticizing the statement; just funny since 99% of info you see posted now is a tweet. People barely bother to link to actual articles, pull quotes from articles anymore.. just choose someone's hot take tweet as a way to link to an article.
Because it's faster than reading a click-bait article generally.
*someone reads the article, summarizes*
*Thousands of retweets about the summary over reading an article that loads 50+ ad networks and probably buries the lede thousands of paragraphs deep*
Plus, Twitter is technically a microblog, so essentially that's what they're doing.
I could go for a spicy tuna roll right now, tell you what.
No lie: I fucking miss sushi and burgers. They're doing take-out only, so it's possible to do so, but that means traveling into town as they don't deliver 25+ miles away.
While technically I can do both of them, it's not the same. (Plus my rolls always come out as a complete mess and not as "pretty"/uniform as the place I go to.)
