No slight about those who work(ed) more but shorter work weeks, if not at the expense of workers's material conditions, is pretty obviously a quality of life improvement and a way to allow them the possibility of being less dysfunctional. I'm also pretty sure there's studies that shows you're on average extracting more productivity.

You are not wrong, but still feels weird specially since this stuff generally comes from first world countries. I just commented this stuff to my mother (she is a widow that worked 8 hours of 6 days by week) and while she was laughing of the perceived laziness of more “advanced” countries but she kind of admitted that maybe is not a so bad idea. She was a functional working adult but not necessarily a happy one. (But I feel work was just a contributing factor).

I don't even have an issue with her going public, even though it is sort of inconsiderate in regards to the wife in question (i wouldn't like to be publicly humiliated like this, if i were her).
