I don't agree with their logic about voice acting in general in that Naughty Dog thread, but if they were to be consistent, aren't people calling the Samurai Jack example a false equivalence kind of wrong? Asian Americans are to my knowledge less represented in voice acting than African Americans and are even more passed over for white people, so by that logic Jack should have gone to a lesser-known Asian American VA rather than the rich black dude from Mad TV.
At least that should be the logic if it was internally consistent. Personally, I fucking love Phil LaMarr and the dude can have any damn role he wants, whether a non-black marginalized minority or not. He's got better range than the rest of the super incestuous industry mainstays like Troy Baker and Laura Bailey (at least when they're typecast which is 99% of the time).
