The deck does a lot of awful things to how you have to approach the format, and KOing its consistency (making it have to rely on only Kiki) would, imo, greatly improve people’s willingness to play more “tap out” type archetypes that are currently just shut down because of this dumb card’s existance. I don't agree with their logic about voice acting in general in that Naughty Dog thread, but if they were to be consistent, aren't people calling the Samurai Jack example a false equivalence kind of wrong?  Asian Americans are to my knowledge less represented in voice acting than African Americans and are even more passed over for white people, so by that logic Jack should have gone to a lesser-known Asian American VA rather than the rich black dude from Mad TV.

At least that should be the logic if it was internally consistent.  Personally, I fucking love Phil LaMarr and the dude can have any damn role he wants, whether a non-black marginalized minority or not.  He's got better range than the rest of the super incestuous industry mainstays like Troy Baker and Laura Bailey (at least when they're typecast which is 99% of the time).

I think it's a bit strange to treat VA the same as IRL acting when it comes to things like this. This isn't even a GHOST IN THE SHELL caliber blunder, considering the model was finalized after she was cast. Ideally, I would have loved for a black VA to get the shine that comes from starring in a ND joint, but I'm not going to kill the studio for . I hope we get a black lead in a ND game. If you do not understand an issue, then that is an opportunity for you to sit and listen to the lived experiences and perspective of the affected group of people, not an opportunity to dismiss and talk down to them. It is not solidarity or allyship to say "I support you, but only up until this point".

The video game industry has been called out for many reasons recently. One of those reasons is anti-black racism, and the lack of black voices in every single corner of the industry. That includes voice acting. The fact that the most prominent voice actors are white is not a coincidence. The fact that white people are picked for minority roles is not a coincidence. To say that white people were chosen all of these times because they were the best person for the role is to imply that people of colour are simply not talented or good enough. No, rather, it is indicative of a problem within the industry itself.

Posts that are dismissive of this fact, or try to deflect, or play whataboutism, or invoke false equivalences with minorities voicing white characters will be banned. If you see any posts that we may have missed while cleaning up, please report them. Thank you.

Additionally, we have removed the poll for a few reasons, though it was likely added with good intentions. Minorities are called minorities for a reason. so the simplest solution for the games industry to keep people on era happy based on the last few days is the following, right?

 - female employees (if you must continue hiring them) are no longer allowed on business trips, and if for some reason they do have to attend will be chaperoned at all times and must obey a curfew

 - when its most cost efficient to hire a white voice actor who can provide multiple characters, or they are the best person for the job during casting, any planned minority characters will just get removed from the game completely or rewritten to be 100% pure unambiguous #FFFFFF
