Imagine not understanding why likes would work against productive discussion.

Liking a post is not "having an opinion heard".

We're not disabling a feature.. we're not adding the feature... because the mods did their jobs and decided not to add it.

And adding likes would generate more of the thing you don't like (clout chasing), and add literally nothing of value.

Adding likes would dramatically reduce the quality of the forums.

High liked posts would discourage people from posting opposing opinions, it would create bias when people enter threads and see those posts, it would generate more clout chasing and shit post style humour, it would actively discourage productive discussion for all of these reasons.

Thankfully the staff will do neither, most likely.
