Why are they complaining that people don't want to contribute to those types of threads when they know damn well what the results will be if they come in with any opinion other than mindless agreement with the op? Maybe people are getting wise to the fact that certain threads are meant to be avoided? It's like their complaint about anonymous polls. Ive known gaming side has its own flow but considering that this thread both clashes with that and goes against the flow it makes sense why this happened. It's why I started the other thread in ectera it got views and people talked about the current situation. This isn't and that's in line with so many problems currently.

gaf was always a site you could rationalize using as a place with lots of rapid fire video game discussion, all news posted within seconds, fingers on the pulse, including a number of legit insiders

it was never a target for troll infiltrators until era invited the idea by starting the new site and trying so hard to stop people from getting in, and set a hardline tone for the whole forum

It's the paranoia that makes me keep coming back.   

I don't even know why they have a depression thread when half the forum are constantly talking about, "them," "global network," "big bankers," and openly saying Jews can't trusted.  Send them all to the booby hatch.  The mental ward kind, not the fun kind with tittys slapping on your face.

The Nazis WERE socialists. That's what the "S" in "NSDAP" stands for. "National Socialist German Worker's Party". "Socialist", "Worker's Party" - pretty fucking obvious, no? I own a collection of actual NSDAP pre-war flyers and propaganda pamphlets, they are very, very clear. Yes, they hated communists, but mostly because they were nationalists and considered the communist party a Soviet asset. Sure, Hitler was no socialist hardliner (unlike many other NSDAP leaders who were all for seizing the means of production), and sure, some large companies supported him, but what exactly is that supposed to prove? He got donations from industrialists, therefore he had to be a capitalist? The elite saw the writing on the wall and tried to buy influence. Sure, you could say they weren't "real" socialists and were just lying to the public and their own members, but how is that any different from Stalin, Mao, Castro, Honecker, Pol Pot or any other communist/ socialist leader in history?

Those promises were how they got support and ultimately managed to seize power. They told the plebs exactly what they wanted to hear, and what they want to hear clearly didn't change all that much in the last 100 years. I'm not a comic guy, but I'll quote Lobo here: "Never trust fucking nobody."

What really pisses me off is that some people seem to think calling Nazis (or their program) left wing is somehow pro-Nazi. It absolutely isn't. Socialism is and has always been pied piper nonsense. I'd argue it's inherently flawed, it never worked and always led to disaster. But that doesn't mean I'm libertarian or support unchecked capitalism, either.

We've seen a significant number of reports from transgender members directed at fellow transgender members in this thread for disagreeing with them, something that has become untenable. Yeah, we managed to close that one down in half an hour (it was like 6.30am for me and middle of the night in the US). It’s crazy to see the number of people who vote and run, so yeah, we just aren’t going to be allowing such polls on minority/bigotry-related issues. Voting and not posting to avoid moderation for a shitty point of view implies we shouldn’t allow such poll options to exist in the first place, it just allows a weight of indifference to dismiss the concerns of people who the question affects.

Just curious, can mods/admins see who voted for what or is it really anonymous? Seems like a lot of these should be outright bannable.

I know I wasn’t able to, and am pretty sure admins couldn’t either. Seems like an option for anonymous votes for an option given by the thread/poll creator that would otherwise be actionable as a post were an oversight in the software. After 2.5 years of the site, I’m honestly surprised it hasn’t come up earlier, I guess we all thought it would be used for polls on ‘which is the worst Thor film’ and ‘Sonic, Mario or Crash’ rather than as a way to remind minority opinions that they were in the minority or for trash opinions to hide en-masse. Fuck that noise.

Anonymously voting on a hurtful answer seems like a sleazy and roundabout way to avoid a ban.

There used to be an option for making votes visible but it was removed a few months ago. Maybe on polls like that it should be enabled, although I guess in that case people would just avoid voting.

Having it set to staff side monitoring regardless would fix that.

If people know staff can see who voted, they won't vote.

But isn't it better that way since bad faith polls would be more scrutinized?

The constant dismissal of transphobia and racism has had me considering closing my account.
Particularly I feel like the way this forum has given Cyberpunk's dev studio and social media folks a pass because they think the game looks 'epic' is especially embarrassing and awful.
Wether y'all like it or not, era has done a lot to "cancel" devs, studios, and game industry personalities for a lot less.
