Find a good local BJJ gym. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the king of 1v1 scenarios and you will be able to spar at full strength against live opponents each session, which is mandatory for getting proficient at fighting.

Boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai are great too, but live sparring with those will damage your brain. You can learn the techniques and do bag and pad work and mostly avoid sparring (and I recommend knowing striking fundamentals either way), but that alone won't prepare you for defending yourself in a fight.

If you're pandemic restricted right now, start by working on your physical fitness with whatever you have available to you. The better your strength and conditioning, the better you'll tolerate combat sports.

Just like I thought everyone knew that the grounds for abortion aren't moral ones, but health and safety ones.

You might not like people having premarital sex, but you still want people to have access to condoms to prevent the spread of diseases, and you might not like women deciding for whatever reason they don't want to be pregnant, but you still want safe clinical abortions, so that you don't have women bleeding out in back alley abortionists.

Same deal with junkies - you might not like people shooting up, but you still want to offer needle exchange programs, again, to stop the spread of diseases.

These are things that exist to alleviate people dying from doing things they are already doing. If you want to change the underlying causes of people doing things you don't like, go ahead and try and educate people to not behave how you don't want them to.
But on purely pragmatic social terms, making medical procedures needlessly risky by stopping people qualified to perform them at risk of losing their job by doing so is fucking stupid.
