The fact this is all made up bullshit is obviously
less weird, as there's a narrative to push.
Like, "gender critical" people aren't doing it "to deny trans rights" - they're arguing to make sex (and the associated rights that feminists have fought for over the decades) a distinction that is not wholly negated by gender, and acknowledging that literally doesn't affect any rights trans people already have.
Also the specific attacks made against JKR are both wholly false; she quoted a 'whistleblower' who made the claim that homophobic parents were happier to see a child as trans than gay because they thought it held less stigmas, and she can't really be 'pivotal' in a legislative change that she hasn't lobbied against, donated to a political party about, or even really spoken in public about, other than the consistent and vitriolic attacks
on her made people raise eyebrows about what the activists are actually fucking playing at.
