The part that made me double take that thread was the disconnect between "all the negativity" and having Tell Me Why in the OP. I'm not accusing the OP at all, it just does stand out to me considering the title is very likely a reference to the backlash against CP2077, and one the of the most prominent parts of that on this site is the transphobia. I won't lie in that it did cross my mind that the inclusion of Tell Me Why was a strategic choice.

This with the thread being full of CP praise makes it feel like a strange set up, even if OP had no ill intent.

I used to have a lot of faith in people, but over the last 5 years I've become incredibly cynical toward giving the benefit of the doubt when coincidences occur.

It is something I do need to keep in check at times, but for topics like this I find it can be tricky to balance.

There are other places to talk about game sales. There aren't other places where the trans community can post without getting harassed.

I would not oppose talking about the "product" selling but people just can't refrain from lavishly congratulating the company and the game, which at this point I find very much hard to justify as anything other than dog whistling.

The reason Cyberpunk selling so well fascinates me is because, as someone with several trans friends who seem to genuinely believe that things are getting incrementally better as far as awareness, representation, and acceptance go, I’m a little taken aback by how those sentiments don’t transcend media lines.

Praising megacorps for making money always seemed like gross behavior. It might make sense for some games that took big big gambles in game design you like and want to see replicated elsewhere, like happened with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, but what reason is there to do it with Cyberpunk 2077 that isn't either sad or offensive?

They get to dodge moderation by not posting in the OT. It's why all these threads pop up.

Don't have to acknowledge any Staff Posts, because there aren't any in a new thread.

They can drop a "Sweet game!" or a "Well deserved, good job CDPR!" and bounce without fear of repercussions because the rules in the OT apply to the OT, and the worst that happens is the thread gets locked until the next new thread.

Because it looks more like this Trans member is actually just upset at how things are being handled, and nowhere in the post is there any requests to have their account removed or banned.
