The people looting are going after the same things as last time. The same Target store on Lake Street - that Target spent millions of dollars to rebuild quickly and highlight products made by and for minorities - was hit again. And, again, it's only hurting the neighborhood. It's the only decent store in the area and residents are going to be stuck having to take the bus or train to get essentials unless they want to go to shitty dollar stores or bodegas. And no other retail in the area is paying what Target is and giving a discount on top of it.
But of course Era just sees all cops are bad hurr hurr hurr and being keyboard warriors. I hate them so much right now. I'd like most of the wanna be tough guys there to just even take the train to the Lake Street station. They'd probably shit their pants.
https://twitter.com/JamaalBowmanNY/status/1381768204125663233this "property over people" thing is such a disingenuous argument
caring about "the property" IS caring about people, some rely on their jobs there to survive, some can't afford transportation and rely on specific stores for daily necessities
if a pharmacy is hit that could put someone's life at risk if they require medication like insulin...some would say "just go to the hospital" but in the US that could mean a $15,000 bill you can't afford and effectively ruins your life
1 person dies and now how many more have their lives ruined? and this collateral damage isn't even necessary by any stretch, it's like not like, cops kill someone and now we take our very valid transactional payment of being able to rob stores for a while, that cheapens the idea of the life too, that blood is paid in xboxes
no cop has ever thought "I was planning on killing someone today but I have to think of the wal-marts that might be robbed so I'll hold off"
