Resetera hates anything that has any traces of cultures outside of the USA+Europe... but the audience from this site is specifically anti-japanese (and anti-asian in general, as has been proven time and time again). Men and women emote differently in the workplace, and sometimes our extremes need keeping in check. If a woman cries at my workplace, she'll be taken in to a break room and comforted. If I sat and cried at work, the room would clear out and they'd all wish they'd been through an active shooter drill. Shit's just different.

I have no idea why that lady is so sure that no men got 'stop being belligerent and aggressive in meetings' on their performance review.

I used to think that, but I'm not so sure any more. I can't really articulate why either. I also used to think that all the scattershot banging on about 'white men' would galvanise a group that really didn't have anything in common, and lead to a resurgence of 'white' as a racial identity worth supposedly fighting for. Maybe we should enforce some haircut rules on all workplaces and nip it in the bud then.

I had one cry because I gave everyone the next day off as a surprise. Apparently she was on welfare benefits and had to report any day she couldn't work 2 weeks in advance or otherwise she wouldn't get the benefits.
So then I got into a debate how I thought that was some stupid bullshit and I would just write her down as being present even though she hadn't worked but that just made her cry louder. 

Anyhow, for me the transition from just being a worker to management had some unexpected consequences.
I would just joke around about things when people had these bullshit workplace complaints about loud music, overtime, office supplies, clients or whatever.
But as soon as you get into a management position anything you say has a different meaning and they think you are serious about everything you say.
Just the other day someone from HR was doing risk assessment and asked if I thought we had enough windows and I said something like:
"I don't think many of us are athletic enough to make that jump. I'm more worried about the train tracks behind our offices"

And she somehow thought I was serious and shared information about suicide prevention with the team plus I sort of got a compliment for putting it on the radar in these "trying times".
