It's been a little while since I bought gift cards, but doesn't the cashier have to specifically activate the gift cards rather than just scan them? Process takes a little while and isn't something that you can just miss while waiting.

It's been a little while since I bought gift cards, but doesn't the cashier have to specifically activate the gift cards rather than just scan them? Process takes a little while and isn't something that you can just miss while waiting.

Pretty sure these days they just scan them like they would any product, only the barcode is a unique identifier to that specific card and once the payment is processed the scratch-off code works.

one time I was at a restaurant with my girlfriend (it was a Red Lobster and I distinctly remember ordering the lobster mac n' cheese which was quite tasty) and we were done with our meal and getting ready to leave.  as the waitress brought the receipt to the table for me to sign, three youths showed up to our table, and they looked like they were up to some mischief.  they said I looked exactly like nicholas cage and asked if I was him, but their tone told me they were absolutely insincere.  not wanting to cause a scene I simply told them I wasn't him and tried to turn back to sign the receipt, but they waved their hands and shouted alarmingly, and insisted that I must be nicholas cage and demanded an autograph. I again told them I wasn't and eventually they left giggling about something, and I finally was able to sign the receipt (remember this, this is important) and left the restaurant with my girlfriend. come to find out, one of the youths had snuck around me and swapped their meal receipt with mine, which was $75 higher than our frugal little meal had been. now the restaurant is angry with me and calling us a dine-and-dash and these hooligans essentially robbed me blind.  and in the middle of a pandemic too!

Tik tok drinks are the bain of my existence. Especially since my store accepts food stamps. Tired of miserable mean low class garbage walking in and ordering 50 dollar orders of nothing but tubs caramel for all six kids they bring in that are barely even dressed and demanding the most ridiculous shit. This is not what those cards are for. But everyday now its getting worse and worse. Someone coming in asking if we take food stamps. Objectively Xbox Series X / PlayStation 5 have been the most boring hardware launches in a long time. About on par with the Wii U.
The difference between Xbox Series X and Xbox One X is mainly 40k in 30fps or 60fps. For most recent 'big' releases, which are mostly remakes and remasters there's barely any difference.
The most important upgrade is the speed thanks to the SSD. And while it makes everything much more smooth in terms of UI and first time loading, during gameplay this is barely noticable.

PS5 is much the same, except no Game Pass and a few more exclusive games which are also mostly more of the same and drop from the radar (Spider-Man, Ratchet) a week after release.

I think they are better than last gen launches. The SSD and quick resume on the series x really do make a huge difference. They are also direct replacements for their predecessors unlike last gen where you bought at launch and never used it because it had no games and no backwards compatibility. Not only do the new consoles have backwards compatibility, but they massively improve the last gen games. Especially if you never bought the mid gen refresh.

But of course, saying they are better than last gen launch isn't saying much.
