I fully acknowledge France's imperialistic and colonial past but let's be real. We are in 2020. France gave its colonies independence in the mid 1900's. While it will certainly impact some attitudes it's not the current reality. That has no relevance to now for me. So this feels like whataboutism. Is France in likelihood to colonize and force the world to bend the knee any time soon? Nah. France was against the Iraq war in a post 9/11. France was mocked as American gods down a country for oil.
