My dumbass actually got a job just as this shit hit - they had to pull strings to get me in. Great fucking job, that I love.

The thing is, I'm terrified of both bringing home this virus, or getting it and bringing it to work. My wife and daughter have been self-isolating for 3 weeks and my wife's only been out a couple times in that period, but I have to go to work every day, interact with a dozen people and try to social distance but the job makes it hard.

It's not a permanent position, but will almost certainly lead to one eventually. Had I turned it down that would have killed any shot at the full-time position.

I'm stressing the fuck out  :(

Due to the nature of my job and industry, I’m pretty much working from the time I wake up to when I go to sleep seven days a week. I can deal with this for a couple weeks but not a couple months. I did catch a couple hours to nap last night, that was pretty cool.

My roommate packed up a bunch of her stuff and left for possibly a few weeks. Apparently her and her boyfriend are going to her parents vacation spot in Palm Desert or something like that. Although she said if the internet there sucks too much they'll come back.

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this. It seems a bit irresponsible to do for one, and now I have no daily in person human interaction. But also now I can watch porn with the sound on again.

Took my dog for a walk, went past the burrito place I always get food from. They had been doing take out only, but today they had a sign up saying they were closed until further notice. I just got nachos on Friday from them.

I got locked in with my partner who had just flown over for 5 days to go to a wedding with me. then this shit got rl srs and she decided to leave everything in Australia and stay with me. we get along pretty great! but it's def a really weird situ to be pushed into living together. been around eachother 24/7 for a month now whereas previously we'd only see eachother for a week or two every few months.

I work frm home during the week and I'm doing some part time study I'm paying way too much for considering how shit the content is. just needa get that paper.

I forgot to mention that something on Friday reminded me of my ex in a dumb way and I fought off the urge to text her for over day before giving in Saturday night. No response as expected and while I felt better after I got it out of my system I wish I could've gotten past it without doing it. Still, I made it 3 weeks, which is an improvement!

I also matched with a couple of women on Tinder, I don't really care if it works out with any but they've mostly been good conversationalists and that is all I care about right now.

Monday and Tuesday were my last days in the office.  We switched to WFH last week, and on Wednesday Thursday and Friday I worked 11 hour days. From home. I’ve gotta get that under control but, ironically, even with an 11 hour day I have more total time to myself without that 3 hours lost to commute daily.

My kids’ tempers seem a bit short, and my wife is coping — but as a health professional academic, she knows how shitty this situation actually is, and is understandably stressed.

I hate the fact that WFH is now a combination of letters that is widely used across all digital media and advertising campaigns.

It's spreading like a virus. You can just say: "Home office" or "Working home", and guess what Wale Fucker Hero I assume you are working from home unless you want to die.

I sold my company at the end of the year and was planning on taking time off anyway so I have money, no business which I can’t even imagine dealing with right now. No idea when I’m going to work though, my industry (food and wine) is getting absolutely fucked right now. A project I was supposed to start this summer is on obvious hold while the people who were going to be my partners try and hold on to their other restaurants.

In my case, I had petitioned three weeks prior, but was denied. Despite having done the job for 25 years, I was told that I couldn’t sufficiently do my job from home. I am now proving it untrue.

Some people only have the choice of disobeying their work to look after themselves or obeying their work well taking that risk. With the economic climate being what it is, let alone the difficulties with somebody my age finding new work in Japan, I felt I had to take the risk.

Started having stuff sneak into my thoughts last night that I really didn't want, tried going to bed and found I couldn't sleep either. Ended up taking a hit from the Dosist pen I bought for times like this and playing Ever Oasis on my 3DS for a bit before finally falling asleep.

Woke up earlier than I wanted and still felt blech. Talked to this old dude who lives down my block that I'm friends with for awhile (we are both Seahawks fans), it's interesting to hear his perspective on stuff because he's over 65, a smoker and also works primarily as a delivery driver for UberEats/GrubHub. He said he's trying to get state unemployment and his Trump Bucks because the risk of him driving right now is just too high. I gotta admit I have been worried about him since this thing started, so I always stay and talk to him as long as he wants because you never know.

After that, I didn't eat breakfast which was a mistake and alternated between playing FF7r and reading for the book club I'm in. I finally got hungry and ate early, then showered and tried taking my dog on a log walk. I don't know if she's just sick of long walks or if the sun made her tired but she was going much slower than I wanted and I could feel myself being really impatient and frustrated. I think I probably needed some higher energy exercise than a walk.

I've felt this sort of, restless anxiety all day and I don't know what it is. Part of me thinks its the Safer at Home ordinance getting extended even though I expected that, part of me felt like it was because I had put off my book club reading until today and had a ton to finish (which I did with 30 minutes to spare) and part of me just thinks I'm trying to get in my feels about my ex and I'm frustrated that I can't go a whole week without that happening.

I dunno, I ate a snack, drank water, took some tylenol and finished my reading and I feel a bit better. Of course Twitter is fucking up and that's what my book club was using to organize and no one can see anyone else's messages so I don't know what is gonna happen.

I made some spaghetti and smoked some weed, so I guess I'm gonna be relaxed now and just play FF7r until I need to take my dog out again.

Every day now feels like Sunday

Quote
Everyday is Sunday when you're unemployed
Sounds pretty good, man, I should be overjoyed

Everyday is Sunday
Everyday is Sunday
Everyday is Sunday
Friday never comes

Do you think I should write a novel, maybe write some songs
I'll show I'm the genius you've thought all along

Everyday is Sunday
Everyday is Sunday
Everyday is Sunday
Friday never comes

I've got nothing to do
And sit here, staring at you
And you've got nothing to say
I wanna hear

You've got nothing to say
So I'm just wasting away
I guess I'll go outsite and do nothing!

Everyday is Sunday when you're unemployed
And then tomorrows Monday
And then tomorrows Monday
And then tomorrows Monday
And then tomorrows Monday

Moody ska :lol

While the mainstream view of ska from its third wave of popularity is that of frat boy party music, traditional ska of the 60s often dealt with heavier themes and was at many times quite political.

My company asked if it was okay to stop funding my commuter rail pass because during WFH I'm not commuting. I told them that, with the worst possible timing, at their instruction I'd finally purchased a 6 month pass just 5 weeks ago. So I'm out about $2500 if they stop paying their portion. They called around and, thanks to C19 the railways are refunding the commuter pass.

We'd had rain for two straight days here, and today the sky was as sunny and clear as it ever gets in Osaka. Just gorgeous. I went for a walk to both local train stations and got my refund. The station agents kept trying to stand close to me to explain stuff, and I kept trying to re-position myself.  Everyone was very helpful, but I was stressing hard when they tried to stand next to me, or hand me things. When I got home again, I immediately showered and soaped up thoroughly.

Jesus, it's weirdly stressful just to try and do anything "normal."

Are there a lot of people kind of ignoring this whole situation still?  Found out that my in-laws are pretty much acting this way, still going to work, social functions, etc.  My wife is pretty pissed off about it- even out in the inaka area they're in, there are confirmed cases.

There's some dude on my Twitter feed who lives in Tokyo and all he seems to do is go out every day and film himself looking at games and shit in shops.  I don't understand why people can't just stay the hell home.

Yeah, I still see quite a few people who seem to be oblivious to the change when I go for my walk every couple of days. I really think some people are convinced that it can't hit them. I wish they'd consider their parents, because many here live in generational homes.
