I already made my decision, but I'm curious what other people would do? Do nothing? Confront him? Call the cops? Do nothing and mind your own business? He's an older white male and he's parked on the side of the road opposite the elementary school watching it with binoculars. I just found it really odd and couldn't think of why he would be doing that. If it was his own kid he was watching wouldn't he be able to just walk closer and watch from there? Is he investigating something? Or is he a perv or stalker (This is what made me feel like I shouldn't just do nothing).

A couple jokes over 20 years... trying to say he has an animosity towards Jada feels like a heavy reach. I'm sure if you counted the number of times he made jokes about other celebrities over that period, Jada would rank pretty low if that's the complete count. This just feels like a pretty poor attempt to villainize Rock and exaggerate everything along the way, a little unfair considering he's the one with an actual traumatic history of bullying.

It is sad that our society has normalized deprecation and disparaging others as the de facto form of humor but here we are. I avoid most of these comedians because so much of their routine is just toxic. But, I feel like that’s the expectation. Maybe this while affair can work to dull that a bit.

Will Smith could have chosen how to respond to that without resorting to just charging up on stage and slapping Rock - that is a significant escalation. Physically assaulting someone for an offensive joke was not the right move at that point. I understand why he did it. Smith certainly saw personally how painful it’s been for Jada to deal with the disease, so yeah it pissed him the fuck off, I just don’t agree that Will did the “right” thing. Because —some-- people are saying that, not all of course. But it’s weird that some are painting Chris Rock like he’s a neo nazi jackass throwing out slurs.
