hey maybe it's not fucking "toxicity" maybe it's literally just a lot of people who enjoy something enough that they're able to examine it critically, and develop a shared understanding of when things turn to shit and how it could've been improved or salvaged
did game of thrones fanbase turn toxic? or did it just hit the critical mass of 90% of people able to admit to themselves it ended in a trash fire?
maybe the 50% of star wars fans who are disgusted by the sequel trilogy are the same kind of people, and the rest are just too overly attached to their media to see its flaws?
and with no ability to think critically they turn to ad hominems like "you're just toxic"
Nah, there is legit toxic fans. Is just that either are overly negative for no good reason or overly positive to the point of being corporate cheerleaders. But probably is not even close to be 10% of the actual fandom, and I agree that assholes at twitter used to score cheap woke points like the corporation also do.
In that note, didn’t Boyega got hyper popular when was one of the few actors not sugarcoating how shit the trilogy was? And I don’t remember people shitting on Esposito for being the main villain in two seasons of The Mandalorian. (Or Pedro Pascal being the Mandalorian for that matter).
It almost feels like Lucasfilm is trying to weaponize the woke audience to safeguard a shitty show they invested a ton of money on.
