Abe sucked and ultranationalists are scum of the Earth, but how is this not a complete endorsement of a political assassination in a safe, developed nation?  The kind of thing that can get the site on a watchlist.

I'm not super comfortable with the politisphere going out of its way to paper over Abe's horrible policy decisions and political stances, even if I understand it's basic political decorum. I just wish some of them didn't seem like they were taking so much glee in it. Like you can say what you're basically mandated to say without writing a mini-essay pretending Abe was a great man.

 

I think the word you are searching is sugarcoating, because I don’t see why you are using “glee” when people are talking about the political legacy of an assassinated politician.

I’m sure is frustrating that the media is white washing the guy (not that was unexpected, specially in Japan). But why discuss his political legacy in a way that, while critical, doesn’t sound unhinged or stupid.

Example:

Fuck this guy. Grandpa was a CIA backed war criminal and Shinzo Abe is a far right nationalist war crimes denier. Japan has effectively been a one party (far right) state for the majority of post WW2. Rest in piss.

I get what he was trying to say (CIA backed a conservative US friendly government during PostWar Japan because commies, Abe’s grandfather was a monster), but at first I thought he was saying that the CIA was backing the guy to do war crimes during Imperial Japan.
