I really can't tell without the context of the show.

It might've been that Dave had been ranting about rich white people all night in front of a mostly rich white audience and he wanted them to boo one of their own.

It happened to me a 3 years ago. I made a thread here about it. We sort of worked on it, more like delayed it. We’re still together. We get along very well, and both of us work so much that it’s pretty much impossible to be cheating, but it just feels like an inevitability that it will happen again. We are more affectionate but I still get irritated with her and I have times I have to swallow and forget what she did to me and that’s doing a number on my mental health.

Honestly, at this point the kid only has a couple more years left of high school and her father, who we live with, may only have a few months left to live, and I think we’ll probably say our goodbyes after that is done. We’ve talked about buying this house, but it scares me to get into a commitment with her.

I’m actually looking forward to this 15 year relationship to be over someday.

We should have never been together in the first place. One of my best friends say that we are still together just because we are lazy and stubborn. We just don’t want to put in the effort of finding a new home for each other and starting new relationships.

I will be honest, those involved including my wife are aware I do not want to buy this house. Their father wasted all his money and this house will be all they have left of him. I accept that means this place is important to them and I also know that rent is higher than a mortgage and homes hard to find so we will have to relocate when he passes if we don’t buy the house. But I also know we won’t be able to keep the house. And I’ve made sure to let them know that due to our low credit ans their insistence in buying the house and putting it in my BIL’s name, a man I cannot trust and who has no verifiable income is a huge disaster.

I know this is a train wreck and I comfort myself that I’m doing nothing on my end to help them realize this dream and am instead looking into homes nearby. And if a fight ensues, I’m prepared with money on the bank to leave.

That's less to do with the news and more that nobody gives a rat's ass about teachers in general. If we're being real there's an even bigger story concerning teachers, the huge number of people leaving the profession and the total lack of replacement due to horrific working conditions, that hardly gets covered.

But frankly, Era, and the world in general, ain't ready to talk about the working conditions of teachers because that means pointing the anger at ourselves and how we not only view education but how we teach our kids to view education.

The left only gives marginally more of a fuck about teachers than the right does. Both are just as willing to toss them under the bus if it advances their own bullshit.

About 20yrs ago, a Japanese person living in my city went missing. This person was late 20's/early 30's and was here working in one of our many Japanese factories. (Japanese management frequently does a 3-5 year stint here before they are rotated back to Japan - we've been friends with several of the couples throughout the years) Cops, detectives, K9 - they never found a body. The family in Japan paid for a psychic, also from Japan, to fly over here and that motherfucker walked directly to the spot in the woods where the person died. Immediately. Like, they walked off the plane, and said "Take me here", walked into the woods, bam body. Super fucking weird. It barely made the local papers at the time.

One city over, about 6 or so years ago, they found 3 headless bodies over the course of a month or so. Never found the heads. There was never even a follow-up to that goddamn story. (talking to my wife, she thinks they found 3 heads but never the bodies? Man, it was something super fucked up like that)

I'm guessing either Mexico of Brazil.

Ugh. My brother went through a fit like this a couple years ago, went absolutely nuclear on my parents and the like, blaming everyone but himself for his problems. Even tried to fake an abuse claim, just like yours did. He actually bought a gun and was plotting to kill my dad with it but someone leaked his plans to me and we were able to stop him and get the gun confiscated before he acted on the plan. I blocked him on social media and refused to speak to him for four years after he pulled another stunt after that.

The silver lining is that he slowly, after alienating everyone in his life, started to realize how much of a shit he was and has started to improve as a person. He's gotten a lot better now, primarily because his wife is a tough cookie who won't take bullshit from him and her family has really helped get him back on a better path in life in ways I don't think he would accept coming from me and my parents. We still aren't close, but I stayed with him and his wife for a weekend earlier this year and got to know his wife's family and they're great people. I text with him every couple of weeks, that's about as much as I'm willing to connect so far.

All this is to say, I know how much this sucks. I don't think our situations are exactly comparable - while my brother was a violent asshole, he never went full MAGA - but people CAN get better. I hope your brother does too. I hope he realizes how he's projecting all of his insecurities and problems onto everyone around him instead of working through them. That's the first step.

Ugh. My brother went through a fit like this a couple years ago, went absolutely nuclear on my parents and the like, blaming everyone but himself for his problems. Even tried to fake an abuse claim, just like yours did. He actually bought a gun and was plotting to kill my dad with it but someone leaked his plans to me and we were able to stop him and get the gun confiscated before he acted on the plan. I blocked him on social media and refused to speak to him for four years after he pulled another stunt after that.

The silver lining is that he slowly, after alienating everyone in his life, started to realize how much of a shit he was and has started to improve as a person. He's gotten a lot better now, primarily because his wife is a tough cookie who won't take bullshit from him and her family has really helped get him back on a better path in life in ways I don't think he would accept coming from me and my parents. We still aren't close, but I stayed with him and his wife for a weekend earlier this year and got to know his wife's family and they're great people. I text with him every couple of weeks, that's about as much as I'm willing to connect so far.

All this is to say, I know how much this sucks. I don't think our situations are exactly comparable - while my brother was a violent asshole, he never went full MAGA - but people CAN get better. I hope your brother does too. I hope he realizes how he's projecting all of his insecurities and problems onto everyone around him instead of working through them. That's the first step.
