we took into account the belief that this thread wasn't made in bad faith despite the hurtful outcome that women are now expressing in this thread (intent does not preclude outcomes), hence why a week ban was handed out instead of the usual two weeks for infractions regarding issues of bigotry.

Ignoring everything else about the ban and thread closing, this is actually absurd and defies a lot about the staff's stated approach to moderation in the past; whether something is in bad faith or not.  If the issue is unintentional, tell the person.  Maybe they'll be receptive, maybe they won't, but something tells me the "shoot first, ask questions later" ideology won't resonate with a site like Era too well.
