I am 100% convinced that due to the additional reach of the news of our ban, at least one person somewhere got notified about it, did some google on how bad a person Rowling actually is and is now rethinking their opinion about all of this. Which already would be a win, in my book.

I seriously doubt there was a conscious effort to choose her as an easy mark. While she was already getting heated because the whole “Dumbledore is totally gay, guys, but I need to hide it in the prequel films because China money” but she is still one of the richest writers of the planet.  I think there was legit anger even if her opinion was middling at best, and the political circumstances made it easier to stick for a while. Is this a standard practice for games reviewers, to intentionally restict an acknowlegement of merit to a specific title due to the wider view as to what the publisher is/isn't doing?

The wasteland that has been the Xbox release schedules for the last few years limits the accolades we can give the game but it's a breath of fresh air for Xbox gamers, developer Tango Gameworks, and the rhythm action genre as a whole.
