Yes, there are overzealous leftist and teenyboppers trying to figure out their identity fucking shit up, but just as well, there were plenty of white and non-Black people who didn't understand what the big deal was and- naturally- further engendered a status quo of casual racism. John seems chill and I agree with him on a lot of topics like on retro games, games as art, weeb games, etc. - and also that open world sucks btw. But he is the kind of guy who sees the 1 or 2 nasty comments out of a 100 positive ones and takes those 2 way too seriously. So I imagine he does not take well getting carried into this pathetic Harry Potter drama - this tweet feels completely alien coming from him. I mean, I remember the first videos he's appeared in, there were a lot of really bad shit comments about his looks, calling him incestuous and whatnot. So I can't blame him for not taking heat on social media well, especially in cases like this, where he wasn't even the one starting the topic.

There doesn't seem to be another group that is anywhere NEAR as vocal about perceived slights as trans people.  It's not just about being a highly marginalized group, many of those exist and have arguably worse depictions in the media like Muslims as Hasan says like COD which furthers (and is funded by) the military industrial complex. 

I'm wondering if this is because there's an overrepresentation of trans people among the terminally online.  Anecdotal of course, but none of the trans people in my life act like this and one is even having a blast with Hogwarts Legacy.  There's a lot of people that have never knowingly met a trans person in their life, which unfortunately means their only exposure is the militant online ones that will vilify you for your media consumption.

I think another good indication of this is the perceived antisemitism among JKR works and in HL and how it's largely a footnote in the discourse.  The tropes being used (assuming they're intentional) are adjacent to propaganda that have led to actual physical genocides that have spanned hundreds of years and culminated in the worst genocide in history.  And yet despite that, the Jewish community is not uniting to take down HL.  In fact, I'm seeing a lot more people that aren't Jewish pointing it out.  It's like they're using it as a jumping off point to bolster their greater stance.  As if antisemitism is suddenly a "sidekick" to transphobia just to show people there's other forms of bigotry involved despite them not actually caring.
