I think everyone losing their shit is misreading that tweet as a single statement in their rush to be outraged at every utterance by a somewhat dumb autistic man. As it says in the tweet, saying slurs doesn't get you a ban, "repeated, targeted" harassment does. I'm pretty sure the old "say slur in any context, get banned automatically" policy is one Elon explicitly changed and everyone lost their shit about before they left Twitter forever.

He wants to turn twitter into a financial service company, which wouldn't need advertising. The problem is that he's marketing exclusively to people who don't need another financial service. Regardless of right wing fears about banking, they have no real issue using banks. Hard to see him getting to his end goal before this shit blows up or investors start rebelling.

why should I care or not if X is making money. if elon can tell advertisers to fuck themselves it only makes the experience better. now the platform won't have to cater to them, or maybe just less than they had to before.
