FYI:
among the various options for twitter replacements, a few names keep coming up: mastodon, the broader fediverse in general, cohost
if you search for cohost on twitter
you'll find a lot of people talking about migrating to ithttps://twitter.com/jattazo/status/1589050672322052096https://twitter.com/pmcTRILOGY/status/1589652297969278978etc.
it has three comfy developers who are really responsive to what the community wants, a dedicated field in the bio for your pronouns, lots of great settings and tagging, easy to make fun posts
b-but the best thing about cohost...is, uh...

it's small and underdeveloped enough that shota / loli fans are working on getting a foothold on the site...

and the site's admins are receptive, they're not willing to close the door on underage content on their twitter-replacement, they want to provide whatever the community wants
https://cohost.org/staff/post/124903-community-guidelineswe’ve added clarifications to the section regarding child sexual exploitation material, and how it pertains to non-realistic depictions of minors, in an attempt to provide clarity and consistency for enforcement.
internally, we had been drawing the line at the prevailing legal definition of “realistic depictions,” which includes photographs/videos of actual human minors, or content difficult to distinguish from actual photographs/videos.
policy around non-realistic depictions, such as lolicon/shotacon, has not yet been finalized. we don’t want to implement a policy that the majority of users would feel uncomfortable with. we are currently working to implement a system to allow us to get user input on this area of policy. until such time, please refrain from posting it; up to this point, we have been asking people posting it to remove it pending a final policy decision.
some of their genius ideas include allowing it but geoblocking it from countries where it's illegal, or allowing it but they have this nifty tag muting system so all you have to do is mute "loli" and you'll never see it! problem solved
a lot of people were not happy with the idea that there was even the possibility of allowing this content, so much arguing ensued until they locked the thread:
EDIT 10/7/22, 8:21am PDT:
In an attempt to reduce the amount of unconstructive nastiness and name calling in this comment thread, we are going to be removing comments (both "on our side" and not) that detract from actual conversation.
so when you see people talking about heading over to cohost, now you've got an idea of the direction the site is heading
