Also, I love how only going to the theatres 15 times or so last year is a sign of being a bad film lover according to Oogami.

It is. :(

I fail to see how going to see Ghost Rider, The Hitcher, or Because I Said So would make me a better movie goer. Its more a reflection on today's mainstream efforts that not much will get me out.

Right now, stuff like Bridge to Terabithia, Blood Diamond, Dreamgirls, Letters from Iwo Jima, Notes on a Scandal, Pan's Labyrinth, Smokin' Aces, The Pursuit of Happiness, and Volver are playing in theaters back home.  I want to see all of those, but for you, that would be almost a year's worth of theatrical viewings. :/

Edit: Not to mention Perfume, Fast Food Nation, Black Book, The History Boys, and Miss Potter.

Do any of their wives have a father that runs one of the largest studios in Hollywood?  Nope!  Maguire probably uses his fiance's jewerly for his many, many mistresses.  That's how pimp he is.

Also, Travolta and Cruise are gay - what the hell.  Bad comparison.

Trophy wife doesn't have to mean attractive at all.  She's the best trophy wife of all, because she ensures that he will always find work in Hollywood, and have cash flow.  That's pimp smooth, baby.

Back on topic, I cannot believe BlueTsunami endorses the pity Oscar.  Oh well, at least it's for a better reason - New England! :lol

None of those films, save for Unforgiven, are as good as his Leone films.  I'd rank 'em:

1. THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
2. A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
3. UNFORGIVEN
4. FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE

None of them should ever be mentioned in comparison to Leone's, lets leave it at that. Eastwood, while a competent filmmaker, is leagues behind Leone.

No need to compare, I am just curious what you think of them.

And Unforgiven is on the same scale(barely) as Leone. It's the only one however.

Shake you can't agree with that untill you seen Unforgiven. MANY people put it alongside TGTBATU

Speaking about this whole Marty debacle, its almost a comedy of errors. If he makes Silence next, according to what Ive heard about the project, it could easily be the best film Marty ever makes, yet its precisely the sort of film the Academy will totally ignore him for.

Unforgiven is NOT on the scale of ANY Leone, save for maybe Fistful Of Dynamite, which is by far the weakest Leone.

Winning best picture for departed may lead him to do the departed sequel next.

Personally I want to see his Teddy film before Silence. I also hear rumblings recently he is considering doing a family friendly movie next.

Unforgiven has MUCH better pacing than the Leone films. What Unforgiven lacks in Leone's deliberately rough edges and heavy atmosphere, it makes up for with tighter pacing and vastly better dialogue. I agree that Leone is a better director when it comes to overall cinematography; however, Eastwood's a little less egotistical when it comes to the cutting room and that gives Unforgiven a serious boost.

Seriously. I'm just glad when movies I like win. Most of the time, the awards are full of shit.

Crash won last year, Departed won this year. That's unprecedented... the Oscars got it right out of the films nominated for two years in a row. Awesome.

I guarantee you that The Departed never sees a sequel. At least one by Scorsese. He'll do either Silence or Teddy nexy. Since its more studio-friendly, and Marty seems to want to keep on working with Leo, my bets are on Teddy in 2008.

Good Night and Good Luck was just all over the place.  The spend way too much screen time dissecting characters who aren't even relevant.  What the hell was with that horrible sidestory involving Robert Downey Jr. and his hagbag hiding their marriage, when nobody cared - all the while taking away valuable screen time from David Strathairn's portrayal of Edward R. Murrow.  The focal point should've been Murrow, but you never see him outside of work, nor do you see how the whole McCarthy showdown impacted his life.

It was like a highly stylized social studies film for kids, but with enough smoking cigarettes to give the Marlboro Man a woody.
