Was reading through the comments and the creator of the vids stated he's using "multitrack files" or something. I'm guessing that makes it much easier to isolate the vocals.

A 10-year lifespan doesn't mean that it will be there only "current gen" console for 10 years. It means that the system will still be around 10 years after release with some shovelware trickling out. Just like the PSOne in 2005 and the PS2 next year. Don't forget that the released the PSOne and PS2 5 years apart in the US, and while 5 years is probably too early for the PS4, it won't be 10.

But I mean what if they did something crazy like really support it for 10 years without PS4. What if they wanted the same longevity for home consoles as there is for handhelds?

I'm sure they'd be willing to do that if Microsoft and Nintendo weren't releasing new systems, provided that the PS3 keeps lumbering along at its current pace.

There's a reason why the PS1 and the PS2 were able to have such long lifespans with continued support by both 1st party efforts and 3rd party efforts.

That reason is that both of those systems were sales juggernauts, what is it, like 120 million each? Which means you tapped into a totally different kind of userbase, both in numbers and in types.

Ps3 ain't got fuck all on that style of pussay, so if Nintendo and MS go forward, and Sony stays in the court, well, nobody is gonna be watching the game this time around.

I mean, economical crysis, the whole devs and game budgets etc. I say let's sit on this gen for twice as long as usual, and let devs re use their techs, lower costs, make more money, and be allowed to bet on riskier projects as costs go down.

They could, but the DRM would probably be annoying as hell and would take forever to transfer stuff.

And that's ignoring the fact that the PSP is definitely less powerful than the PS2, so squeezing the PS3 into a portable form would be pretty much impossible for years.

How would a PSP2 that plays PS3 help the PS3 in any fashion?

Sony WILL release a PS4 around the same time that the others do. Yeah, they're deep in the hole right now, but that'll just mean they'll scale PS4 way the fuck back. Sony may be in the red right now, but the opportunity costs of trying to stick around with the PS3 with their '10 year plan' would be even greater.
