It's not about being sympathetic to pedophiles, it's about not taking the law into your own hands. Granted you seem to have delusions of avenging your lost friend but in reality you wouldn't do shit if even given the chance.

Pedophiles often relapse after therapy ends. They're fucked up individuals (which does not mean this is always nature over nurture btw). I honestly don't know what should be done with them. I guess continue therapy and watch their asses once they get out. Once you choose to hurt a kid you lose your rights to privacy.

my issue with your point of view is that you keep assuming that every single person who might have an attraction to a younger person is a rapist. It's like the people who used to think every gay person was a rapist. There are a lot of child murderers and rapists in history but there are also a lot of regular hetero and hom sexual murderers and rapists. There's also quite a lot that aren't and I'm willing to bet that there are people out there who have those desires who never ever act on them. On a related note, the effect of child pornography and pedophilia on what was once perfectly normal is pretty sad, though. We took some pictures of our kid taking a bath, a pretty natural thing for parents to do. It would also seem natural to send said picture to my parents, my sister or other friends or family, but with the way shit works today, I honestly wouldn't want to do that. Not because I'm concerned about the pictures being hijacked (even if the thought of someone viewing something as innocent as that in a sexual way is enough to make me want to stab someone), but because of the possibility of being stuck in horrible legal troubles.
