:lol

the ds? the best nintendo system? :lol

Is the average NeoGAF poster 13? There are only two acceptable answers: the NES or the SNES

Quote
not only is the ds the best nintendo system yet, but it's contending for the tile of best game system of all time.

it's a device that embodies its very notion. a quintessential idea materialized. seldom does a consumer device reach such fulfillment of its purpose.

:lol

Why the fuck does everyone at that site talk like that? Who talks like that?

Most GAF posts these days consists of either gushing praise or extreme hatred.  Little middle ground left.  Kind of like how anyone who doesn't like a certain title (one of the monthly game of the forevers) is automatically considered a troll.

All i have to say about Star trek vs Star Wars is....Star trek is a concentrated dose of nerdy and dorky sci fi, see the clothes, spock, and whatever, it's like garlic, yuck. Star Wars is the Crusades with a coat of kids fantasy, see Jedis and the force and lightsabers, but the thing is, at it's core...knights are awesome, and lightsabers are awesome too.

Star Trek is like the anti pussy, Star Wars i just man child stuff.

I had this idea that I will make an awesome OP for a shit game when I get unbanned. Like huge.

I'd always thought of doing that. Like, for some random licensed game. 20 pages of professional banners and info.

So this dude (Wii Will Rock U) makes the official Punch-Out thread and calls it "Thread of Reliving Our Childhoods". I check his profile and it states that he's 19 y/o, so I asked "how exactly would you 'relive' your childhood with PO if you're only 19?".

Of course that's a stupid question that has a really simple answer, but instead I got this PM from him telling the story of his life:

Quote
Dude, I'm 19 but I fucking GREW up with an NES with Punch-Out, Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros., Mega Man 2, and Blaster Master. That was handed down to me from my cousin who had recently graduated college and I played the shit out of that system since my parents never bought me an SNES. The N64 ended up being the first system I purchased but the NES was the first I owned and played when I was like 4 years old.

Looks like I touched a nerve.

What is wrong with you?  It was a harmless part of the title and you went and interpreted it literally.  Make fun of SpacePirateRidley for being a little bitch lamer. Oh wait THEY LEEVE MAI CHILDHOOD ALONE- seems like someone touched your nerve.

The 90's wasn't that great aside from pogs and all the great cartoons.

SWAT KATZ BITCHES!

Movies are kind of a toss up. I'm an action movie and comedy kind of guy and the 1980's was a perfect time for this.

i agree with this. Too bad they didnt complete the series though  :'(

I saw your post there and correctly assumed Mr. Jinfash would be making some smug remark here, I doubt its just slight teasing.  And I'm not fuming or anything, but if we're going to highlight internet distinguished mentally-challenged fellows crybaby spr pleading for a "proper op" was a better canidate.  Forums are a terrible addiction for some folks.

I'm 26 and I barely grew up with the NES. By the time I was around eight, the system to own was the Genesis.

I guess you could have been born in 1996 and still grown up with the Intellivision. But it's not the same as growing up when the system is current and games are still being released for it. Growing up with something implies some sort of concurrence.

I used to post on a Nintendo-only forum (yeah I know), and you'd be amazed how many people's first gaming experience was Super Mario Bros. on the NES
ಠ_ಠ

cool breeze

  • Senior Member
my first gaming experience actually was Super Mario Bros.  I actually have an old home video that shows me as a baby attempting to play with my brother.  It also shows me riding in a Batman ride at some arcade.  It's sad that in 20 some years my interests haven't changed.

and if I had to pick a system that I grew up with, it would be the Gameboy.  I still played NES, SNES, etc. a lot but those were my brothers systems and he had the tendency to trade them a lot.  But the Gameboy was mine and I could play it as long as I wanted without interruption.

still, I think most people bullshit about what they grew up with and all that shit.  It's like when Mega Man 9 was coming out and everyone was like "OMG NEW CLASSIC MEGA MAN" when most of them probably played only like one of them, or none at all, or even admitted that they never played them but were still excited because it was RETRO DOOD.  The thing that actually kinda bothers me is when people act like they didn't play the majority of pre-N64/PS1 era games on emulators.

I'm 24 and I grew up with 2600.

I had a 2600 first, but I barely remember anything about it. Had an NES next and I remember playing games like Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 and Guardian Legend. Those two are pretty hazy though, if I had to pick a system that I "grew up with" it would probably be the Genesis since I had that from when I was 5-6 years old to when I was 11-12 years old.

My first game was SMB when I played it at a friend's house.

I didn't really see what was wrong with Jinfash's statement.  I was born in 1985 but I hardly consider myself a child of the 80s.  That dude's response was pretty over the top.  Jinfash challenged this guy's nerd cred.  This could not stand.

Ditto. I think I was like 5 at the time, and I hadn't even heard of any other non-Nintendo systems until the Genesis was released.
