I have heard something similar in the past, I think it's more out of necessity though, as they are often denied access to women and through polygamy there's an inbalance between the sexes.

But also when they engage in sex acts with each they can do it but still not consider themselves homosexuals. I understand cognitive dissonance and compartmentalization, but I still don't see how one could separate the two. Catching up on the lulzy drama of a chick who posts pictures of herself who gets less than "omg, so hawt" reception, freaks out.  The thread is thinly veiled narcissism and it is accepted by everyone but occasionally, there is someone who throws a wrench in the thread and all hell manages to break loose.  Not everyone has to find you stunningly gorgeous and if you can't handle that, don't bother posting pictures there.  I can understand lashing out at someone who is picking on someone ruthlessly but it seems if the comments are less than fawning, then there is some type of freakout that goes on there.  Especially if you're a female member.

J.M. Romeo is a bonafide tool as well.  Making zany poses for the purposes of putting it on the internet is a sign you're a tool.  I'm sure you're just an awesome guy.  I always knew those clown types throughout my school years who acted in similar fashions and they were the types you'd just make fun of.  The upside is that he no longer posts pictures of that one chick that had very yellow teeth.  Instead of making wacky poses, she should have used a toothbrush instead.

There is also a certain member there who spends 90% of her posts talking about her appearance, posting pictures of herself, and talking about relationships.

I wasn't trying to come across as too ignorant either, just it was something I'd heard mentioned before (I believe it was from some sociologist type - not a bigot trying to justify him calling an entire other culture a bunch of f*gs). And I believe it was more about the lower class whose prospects for marriage are dimmer than a catch like yourself.

First of all, I don't understand why the article is called the Dark Side of Dubai (so homophobic), it should be called "The Colorful Side of Dubai".

Actually, that was really the only positivish thing he had to say about Dubai in the whole article (which is quite a good read).

it's not the character models, it's the environments. it's the same problem that hvs has in the conduit; the models look just fine (if you overlook the cliche sci-fi character designs), especially in motion where the jagginess isn't as apparent, but their environments are always plain and blurry. the floors and walls are always so flat and uninteresting

Exactly.  It's like they're getting praised for making a hodgepodge of graphical techniques with no real artistic goal.  If you compare it to Crysis or another game where they really push hardware, the game often times has some ultimate vision for how it's going to look.  This dev of this Gladiator game doesn't seem to even to consider what the final look will be.

I remember watching an old video of The Conduit where they showed new bump mapping on a single enemy character.  You look at the game and it's a ugly bump mapped, shimmering spider in the middle of a very flat, plain looking street.  No consideration for how that enemy would look in that street, just that the character has bump mapping was the important part.  The latest videos I've seen still have flat static looking environments, but maybe they made everything else more consistent.  Apart from the visuals the game look like it will be pretty fun.  Actually, that gladiator game sounds like it could be alright too; I'm really just commenting on how ugly it is.
