My nephew and niece have nut allergies. It's pretty intense and is always an issue...at every restaurant, every time I ask if they want to eat something, when they go to friends' houses, etc. They can go into anaphylactic shock if they eat them or break out into hives if they come into contact with peanut oils. At the very least, they get a nasty rash from the least contact with the stuff (like putting a hand on a counter where peanut butter was cleaned up from.)
So I'm for banning it in a kindergarten class, since the kids may not be mindful of it and accidentally hurt the kid with the allergy (it should be unbanned soon after, once the kid has his/her wits about them.)
There are millions of things a kid can eat and it's not going to kill them if they can't have peanut butter. But it might kill another kid if they do.
