I don't know. I think before Reagan, the CEO to average income pay was a 40:1 ratio or something like that. Which would be about $2,500,000 a year or so if we're going average household income in the present (I'm rounding up a bit). Which I'd be fine with.
I'd rather favor a system that pays producers of goods more but that isn't just communist, it's outright treason as it works against white collar occupations as a whole. I still struggle to figure out why cubicle jockeys are entitled to more money than a dude who slaves away in a factory in 100 degree heat.
During my stints in retail and grocery and low paid factory work, I knew people that had three jobs and needed at least two just to cover basic living expenses. The third one was for general spending money, whenever he had the rare opportunity to buy something (when he wasn't working) It's sad. Where I grew up, it was common to work another job, which is probably why I don't have a huge problem with working a lot of hours and try to work a second job if I can arrange it.
