Man, Nintendo had this holiday season on a golden platter.  They have to be making near 100 bucks of pure profit at 250 bucks.  I'm not paying premium price for thier lackluster hardware.

I'm PRAYING that MS drops the 360 Core to 250, just so Nintendo gets owned.

I'll buy one off the clearance table at Best Buy in a couple of years.  At least (at LEAST) $50 too expensive, no third-party online until 2007, no mandatory widescreen = eat a plate of dicks nintendo.

The funny thing is, it will still sale, just like the DS stuck its cock down your mouth after flaming it too Drinky.

I'm not getting it at launch though, its too much. GC Zelda, and other GC games I haven't played like RE4 is what I'll be playing when Zelda comes out.

If a "victory" to you means archaic hardware and a library not suitable for gamers, by all means, continue to champion Nintendo!

Me, I'll continue to support companies that take a loss on hardware to give me the cutting-edge technology that supports real innovation and games that are targeted at real gamers instead of my grandma.

Shit we already have archaic game design nowdays, there isnt shit for 360, there isnt shit for PS3, may as well throw in archaic hardware. Innovation my ass, Sony and MSoft have about as much innovation as the guys on late night TV selling things that promise to cut your gas consumption by adding 20 miles per gallon with a can sticking out of your gas tank.

The thing is, I don't care about the lack of HD.  I don't care that it's not as powerful as the 360 or PS3.  But Call of Duty 3, Far Cry, Blazing Angels  - without online they're just so much Gamecube deja vu.  No mandatory widescreen support for games is completely short-sighted, much moreso than the lack of HD.  See, we HDTV owners can live without true HD (I'm fine with my DVDs), but we like our media to use the entire area of our screen real estate.  And $250 sounds like a price structure that was implemented about 30 seconds after Sony announced their own pricing structure. $60 component cables is just BOGGLE greed.  $50 third-party portovers, same.

No shit, just crazy.  It's like Nintendo's run by the residents of an old folk's home.  "The kids, they love that World Wide Internet I keep hearing about!  I'll bet they'd love to get on the AOL right there on their TVs!  And picture shows, right up there with it!  Imagine, pictures that YOU take, right there on your TV like on that Star Trek!  And when we come out with the Wii2 with that MPTHREE support, we got us a hit, by cracky!"

It's not a COMPLETE ripoff if it comes with two nintendildos and a game, but fuck Wii sports.

Japan price and date announced - 25000 yen and December 2nd. 25000 yen in US currency is $212.50. The NYT and Seattle stories have been pulled BTW, either because incorrect info or it wasn't supposed to come out this early, which is more likely. But Japan's price being so much cheaper than $250 is weird.

I'll eat my Wii (lolz) if it comes out for GameCube and Wii.  The only way I see this happening is if the rumors of a December Japanese launch is true, and NOA releases Zelda on Cube for a November release and the Q1 on Wii as SPECIAL EDITION.  If Wii is coming out in November, then Zelda will never see the light of day on the GameCube.

The Seattle site and NYT site have pulled the stories about the price and release date. The Japan price is 25000 yen (which by Japan law INCLUDES tax), making it about $212 with tax. It could be nothing or the price could actually be around its Japanese price and be $199.

No, it has nothing to do with a delay.  If the Wii comes out November, which would be the same month they'd target for a AAA release like Zelda, they're not going to release two versions of it and Zelda GameCube will die a horrible, horrible death.  However, the folks doin' the reporting in Seattle say the Wii has a street date of December 2nd in Japan and I highly doubt that'll it reach US shores before that.  But if that is the case, then Zelda will probably be a Q1 release for Wii as SPECIAL EDITION.  My two cents.

Why would Nintendo care if Zelda Wii's sales were cutting into Zelda GCs?  They control manufacturing and distribution. . .Nintendo makes bank on Zelda either.  They don't lose out if one launches first.

Nintendo Co. Ltd. revealed that Wii's various controllers would be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost 3800 yen or about $40; the nunchuck 1800 yen or about $20 and the classic controller 1800 yen or about $20.

 :o

Maybe the controller is that fucking expensive.

Memory = $40
Controller plus nunchuk = $60
Wii sports = $40

You're missing the point here.

Why sell two copies at the same time and saturate your fanbase, when the hardcore fan base and what's left of the GameCube user base will buy the GC release automatically and the Wii adopters and Nintendo faithful (yet again) purchase a SPECIAL EDITION just months later.  Either you maximize the release to take advantage of both user bases or target the one that'll make you the most at the point of its release.

I'm not going to argue about it, Will.  The reason I think it will be released as a GC game is because Nntendo has had a hell of a lot of time to back out of it.  They've backed out in every territory except the US.  If they were going to shitcan the GC version, why didn't they do it when they did the other territories' GC versions?

Wii Price, Launch Date Revealed
The news we've all been waiting for.
by Kathleen Sanders and Matt Casamassina
September 13, 2006 - Nintendo fans finally have a price and release date for the company's new generation console, Wii. The Big N is set to officially announce that the system will hit retail in North and South America for $250 on November 19. The New York Times published with the story and seems, in fact, to have beaten Nintendo Co. Ltd with the news.

Nintendo's Wii console will come packaged with Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf and previously unannounced bowling and boxing games.
Nintendo said it would provide Wii owners with more than 25 unique games this year.

Wii's much talked-about Virtual Console download service, which enables gamers to purchase classic games, will offer a library of some 30 titles when the system launches. Titles will include entries from the Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong franchises, Nintendo said. Virtual Console games will cost between $5 and $10 each. Specifically, Nintendo Co. Ltd. announced that Virtual Console games would cost 500 yen ($5), 800 yen ($8) or 1,000 yen ($10); we're presuming these prices are for NES, SNES and N64 games respectively.

The Big N confirmed that it would charge $50 for its new Wii games, which is $10 cheaper than the cost of standard Xbox 360 titles.

Nintendo Co. Ltd. revealed that Wii's various controllers would be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost 3800 yen or about $40; the nunchuck 1800 yen or about $20 and the classic controller 1800 yen or about $20.

In a surprise announcement, Nintendo said that it wanted to make Wii a living room centerpiece by shipping the system with features outside of the videogame realm. Wil will include a photo channel, enabling users to display their digital photos through the console. It will also boast regularly updated news and weather channels. In addition, the system will ship with the Opera Web browser, enabling users to connect online.

Sony recently announced that it would ready 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan for the system's launch. Nintendo said it plans to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of the year.

Nintendo will launch Wii in Japan on December 2 of this year for 25,000 yen, it revealed. North America will get the system first.

PLEASE GOD happen. Just so these fucking Ntards can shut the hell up.

This is a terrible price, a terrible date, and a terrible launch list IF Zelda is really delayed. I'm shocked. 5 years later and the third party support still consists mainly of ports :lol

Outside of Zelda there is no reason to buy a Wii this year. Absolutely none.
