again, duders, pd's quoting that list out of context. i listed the ten movies that, at the time, i considered "comfort" movies -- movies i watch, well-made or otherwise, when i want something familiar and unchallenging. i think spielberg's a mediocre director, but raiders is easily the #1 movie i turn to when i wanna just pop something in and be amused for two hours. sure, it has some questionable performances, several cliched transitions, and hokey dialogue, but it's fun in a purely subjective way. i don't watch it to be challenged or engaged on an academic or artistic level, where appreciation is tantamount and indulgence is secondary; i watch it cuz HURR HURR NAZIS GET KILLED AND OMG THE ARK AND LULZ INDIANA JONES.
