yeah, see the problem with your arguments against the netflix mcu tv shows, is that you're literally just saying "well I didn't like them".
Nobody has viewing numbers on netflix stuff outside of netflix. You have zero clue what kind of numbers they were pulling in.
But if you seriously want to make a case that Sabrina The Edgelord Witch has more name recognition and built in fanbase than The Punisher does, and that these properties were killed off by sad dad netflix, not house cleaning reappropriations committee marvel.... I don't know what to tell you.
Listen, I understand you liked the shows but they were bad and they were ended BECAUSE they were bad. If they were doing numbers then Netflix and Marvel would have been more than happy to continue their relationship.
Also, Sabrina the Teenage Witch ABSOLUTELY has more name recognition and a larger fanbase than The Punisher, a D-tier hero who's mostly known not for his comic books but for a few bad movies and having his logo appropriated by fashy cops.
Netflix are a licencee.
It doesn't matter how fucking ecstatic they are with something if they're not making it, and don't own any rights except to broadcast.
If Marvel hadn't internally restructured to put all for broadcast properties under the helm of the film division, as part of its move towards making its own streaming service, netflix would have happily continued paying those broadcast fees in perpetuity. They are known properties and they attracted subscribers.
I don't really see how anyone can look at what happened and come to the conclusion "oh, netflix canned them cos they suck!"
Sabrina as in the fucking Archie comic has broader recognition. If only through the age of the IP.
Dark edgy reboot about stealing penises and making literal deals with the devil ain't something that going to attract a subscriber going "Oh, hey, I know sabrina, I read those as a kid... oh my!"
