Netflix alone is still drastically cheaper than network and cable tv and arguably provides the same value now as a single platform as network/cable tv did back then making it an insane value for lower income people relative to pre cord cutting (and even today)

So where does the line get drawn, price wise, where Netflix needs to be to make it friendly to all lower income people? Not asking for it to be free. Asking to be able to do whatever the fuck I want with my 4 simultaneous streams. If I want to share that with other people and they share their service with me it's paid for so what's the problem. Also just fuck you in general. I pay for the streams they aren't free. Think of the businesses approach is just gross. I've seen the word abuse, exploit, and now free. Like I just hijack the netflix streams. If I'm paying for 4 streams I should be allowed to use them as I feel fit. Also I don't give a fuck what's good for Netflix and you shouldn't either. Expecting people to stand up for consumers is too much I guess. If I want to set them up with an auto clicker to keep playing non stop I paid for them.

And it sounds like if it's blocked it's blocked even if you try and sign in on your home system, so if I just flip on Netflix on my phone while killing time before Thanksgiving dinner, I've blocked my phone everywhere until I call them.

All these extra steps just kill the convenience of.mobile apps. They're not deal breakers by themselves but there's no reason why I shouldn't consider them in comparison to other streaming services.

I feel like being pessimistic here is useless because it accomplishes nothing. There's not really a way to prevent the rise of AI, it's happening sooner or later so the real focus should be making reforms that allow AI to revolutionize the world for the better rather than turn it into a hellscape. This is something we need to be putting as a high priority for policy making right now. Instead of talking about how AI will be awful, we need to be having discussions on what sorts of policies can be put in place to prevent those outcomes, to ensure it works to create a more equitable society rather than a less equitable one. I feel like too many of these discussions have people being mired by pessimism or a fear of change, or an innate need to assert how special we as humans are and thus AI is inevitably a problem to these people. AI can bring about utopia, but this will take an active effort on our part. Stopping AI is impossible, because bad actors will continue to research it to their own benefit no matter what, and rather than letting them monopolize the technology and assure their hegemony we need to be working to make it work for everyone right now before it's too late

Where do you get the idea that you won't be able to do it after 7 days? Netflix knows that people travel for more than 7 days. 7 days is likely the amount of time they picked that would make it annoying enough to have to constantly send someone a code within 15 minutes of the request, but not so annoying enough if someone is on a two week vacation and didn't have a device already authorized to enter a code twice on their vacation. It doesn't take much to put two and two together to se that you're not going to be allowed to do a one time 7 day window and that's it. Their FAQ doesn't make any indication either.

...because if you could just get a code whenever I could just let people outside my house keep generating keys whenever they wanted to watch. It would pretty much make this entire thing useless. There has to be some restriction on it.

I really don't get people being annoyed about the ban though. If you wanna buy the game even if it means supporting JK, just buy the stupid game and accept that you are supporting her and don't bother telling this or other threads you are.
