It is going no where. According to every single content creator that I follow they are getting insane amounts of feedback from their shorts. One said that he got 7k new subs off a single 30 second clip. Which was more than he got from all the videos he released that past week.

Shorts are a legitimate cheat code for traffic, especially gaming ones. There's almost no real way to pinpoint why this is the case but it's true. Personally, I tend to view all of this from a psychology point of view. I am interested in many things from a why people do things. Pretty much all dating is about tactics and games. People want to win, so they ask people to advice. I am just interested in why certain things work and don't work.

I think Raide has valid points. As much as I hate the "games"... it really is a bit of that. There is something to the mindset of showing that your time and energy has value and that giving it away so easily to someone can have undesired consequences.

I think it is dishonest, or at the very least disingenuous, to look at these events, and not interrogate the decade or more of policy, and yes ideology, that has lead to them being so prevalent. The reporting in the OP would seem to indicate that these events seemingly occured independent of any wider systemic factor, or at most, were caused by the war in Ukraine and nothing else. Saying "It's so horrific that debt collectors are forcing people to freeze to death in their own homes" and not then follow through to "Why are energy companies incentivised to do this in the first place?" is not really doing journalism of real quality at all.
