I havent seen the slowdown yet, what level does that start on? The camera i've sadly become used to, and the new level design clearly knows the camera is a problem. Still, Camera + Action games :(

I got it in Chapter 2 the worst, in the room with the giant dragon, and the occasional stutter. But nothing slideshow.

I got the in-game loading during Chapter 2 as well, in the area with the Rod of Valor

The worst part of the slowdown will be the stairs on chapter 10. I'm also disappointed the final boss was like the rest of the fiends, style over substance.

Just finished it and man, the game had some pretty shitty bosses outside of Genshin.

I've noticed a lot (ok make that the only 4 i've fought so far) of the bosses are these big hulking beasts, with these DEVASTATING attacks, but all you have to do is just slice their ankles and they die. :lol

Here's a stupid question:

I never played a single Ninja Gaiden game (not even the MSX/ SNES ones).
I *love* God of War games.
I *loathe* Devil May Cry games.

Would I like Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2?
Hard to tell, since Ninja Gaiden is very hard and takes skill. It doesn't have the stuff you or I like God of War for, except that Ryu is extremely bad ass.

Did anyone else miss getting the claws in Chapter 2?

i got them in the burning room, then died, then decided to take the alternative route (across the river), figuring all roads would lead to Rome eventually...it didn't :(

So I had to buy the fuckin' things in Chapter 3.  :'(

GoW is really an adventure game disguised as an action game. Unless you really like hard games, I doubt you'd like NG.

my god, the ninja dogs are absolutely brutal, i love them.

and i think i know why folks are saying the camera is worse than before, it is due to the increased amount of enemies on screen and the narrow places.

My 360 crashed when I tried to browse the leaderboards after a level (I had to beat the boss again!) so maybe the game itself is glitched.

I think the camera issues aren't just exacerbated by the narrows spaces and increased enemy numbers, but also by the obliteration techniques that move the camera in front of the action.

The only in-battle load I encountered was in ch.2 on the stairs with the archers.  The camera has had some freakouts, but nothing at key moments-- it usually happens when I go around hitting walls looking for crystal skulls.  It'll get stuck behind a pillar during an obliteration or UT every once it a while.  Once again, nothing I hadn't already dealt with in 1-- not a problem then, not a problem now.

lol game journalists

Can't wait to get online with my new 360 and check out the leaderboards...you'd think wireless adapters would be cheap by now. It's kinda weird not having a 360 online (all my other ones were hooked up all the time.)  In any case, I haven't been playing for karma, so it'll be cool to see how I'm measuring up to casual players.

I love Ninja Gaiden games, loved GoW, wasn't too hot on the DMC series, so I'll say give it a shot.

I *was* playing through DMC 4 and not minding it, until I lost all my saves in a horrible mishap. And playing the old NES NG games really wouldn't make a difference, outside of knowing the main characters name.

I like NG2 way more than 1 so far. MOST of the battle environments have provided me with a lot of 'n00b room' to do moves n stuff. I still have trouble in smaller spaces that require constant use of the wall in the middle of combos.

Holy slowdown! The stairs in Chapter 10 were so full of kickass that my machine could barely keep up with it. It's a great place for UT chaining. The boss on that stage was a joke though.

Also is anyone else disappointed with the Tests of Valor? It's kinda upsetting that these are what replaced the mission modes. Only the third one gave me a hard time but the others have been cakewalks so far.

yes you can, right before the bridge (where you get the rod of valor from respawning ninjas.)

it's really an amazing weapon once you upgrade it, in the first game i only used the dragon sword and dabilahro for some bosses, here the talons are my main shit till further notice.

The armadillo boss and ch.3 boss have been the hardest so far.  I'd like to know if there's a set formula for knocking them over into a stunned state--in both fights I feel like I just happened to get lucky one time and get them stunned towards the end of the fight.

but yeah, block when the armadillo is dead--in case some of you didn't get the memo.

I'm used to that (Doku's charge or Alma's grab attacks.)

i don't mind using the bow for bosses like the first game (tanks and the chopper anyone?) but this guy is really cheap, sending fishes, electric balls and a huge fucking blue face that keeps following you? NOT COOL.

Triple flying swallow his ass.
First hit he blocks, next two hit and you land where you start. You can go back into this cycle before he recovers and effectively stunlock him.

Kill the rocket dudes first. Clean up the mechs afterwards.

Someone on GAF coined DASH AND SLASH as the strategy of choice in this game, and I can't think of anything better. DASH AND SLASH. If you're not moving you're meat.

Probably getting tagged by the giant guys' machine guns. It does chip damage.

Just dash dodge your way around the area cleaning up rocket soldiers, and then kill the big guys. If you're feeling saucy use UTs from the essence the dead rocket guys drop.

Trees with tearing and horrible camera angles that prevent you from enjoying the fights, and respawning that occurs offscreen and is blocked from your sight by the giant mechs that rotate around you in a flash and force you to fuck with the camera again.

NG1 did not do this to me.

I decided that having to use a Life of a Thousand Gods to get past it was acceptable so now I've saved past it. If chapter 9 is worse than this then Civ Rev just got $40 cheaper.

please show me the threads not overrun by whiners.  I hope its more like the first NG-- people bitched like hell at first, then played the game more, got good at it, and stopped caring about the flaws and "cheapness"

AdmiralViscern-- the other option on the mech dudes is ninpo.  A Piercing Void is guaranteed to take off a limb (then go in for the OT.)  But I think Inferno at Level 2 or 3 can take off limbs/kill a few of them at once.
I think that strategy is what they intended, especially for the part with the bazooka guys on either side of the arena. Immediately after that fight, there's a ninpo essence chest.

I'm still at chapter 5 but if there is a critical flaw, it's probably the "variety" in bosses.

i appreciate Itagaki and co. wanting me to use the bow exclusively on a certain boss but i wish all bosses are like genshin or alexei, just normal battles, heck i wouldn't be pissed about it if there was a mission mode like NGB, where i can just fight them all day long without the other annoying bosses.

another flaw is the framedrops here and there, look itagaki, it's cool that all the bodies stay on the floor but next time, save some room for the memory and stop showing off, k?

I just rounded the corner instead so the rocket losers couldn't get me, and like I said I had to settle for using Life of a Thousand Gods.

I haven't used any healing items more potent than the regular herbs, and only in boss fights, so I think I'm just going to play loose with the healing from now on to get myself through the game with less frustration. I have all the weapons maxed that I want so I can afford to replace them if necessary. I have 4 weapons fully upgraded and the rest all lvl2 and I still have $60k.

Fortunately the rest of the level was a joke compared to that one 5 minute portion. Unbalanced game.

I liked the fight, but I'm glad they changed it up with land mines and Godot ninjas.
