The Krauser fight is awesome, because it goes on just long enough. It's like, 60 seconds of Dragons Lair, and then back to the real game.

If you don't like the Krauser fight then I'm sorry, you should just walk away from gaming. It has nothing to offer you.

I loved that scene, it was so homo-erotic :hump
Whatever you say, comrade.

I am not seeing the GTA3 and Shenmue comparison they are trying to make.

It's EGM and it's a Parish feature. He's going to hamfist any comparison he can make to make his argument stronger. This is the guy who whines about graphical inconsistency in FF7's FMVs.

Well get ready for more of that shit with their new game Chubby Rain.  Feel the emotion as you press up, down, down, up, left, right, up.

You mock Heavy Rain? Did you not play the first 90 minutes of Indigo Prophecy?

QTEs are always awesome in God of War.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Somebody gave Alone in the Dark like a B-. Yeah...

Madden looks pretty amazing I must say. Too bad I hate sports games. The Vick cover did me in.

Anyway, the only game to nail QTEs is RE4. Every other game is a sad pretender. Even the mighty God of War doesn't use them right. Inputting a long ass sequence of button presses and stick twirls every 5 minutes is no good. Every damn enemy should not have a QTE fatality. Every damn boss should not be 1 minute of spamming attacks and then a 30 second QTE sequence repeated 10 times.

You probably play games on Novice.

Trying to act like God of War is a simple hack and slash game isn't misguided or anything, but to act like you can get away with spamming the attack button on higher difficulty levels is extremely short-sighted if not disingenuous.

There's enough of a variety of enemies with plenty of strengths and weaknesses that dodging and parrying become half the fun in an already fluid and responsive combat system.

Getting through to the end of boss battles to be rewarded with a visual feast of a QTE is way more satisfying than some taco chanting "flawless victory".

Just go back to playing RE4 on Easy. You're probably good enough at it to play it on Normal by now, take a chance.

The QTE at the end of GoW2 is awful.  A drama-sapping annoyance.
And mashing the button during the fight at the end of the first one sucked too.

I don't mind QTE when they involve a button press.  Analog wiggling is the worst.  Waggle is also bad.

How did Capcom get all the good programmers in Tokyo?

There's like eight million people living there and Capcom has all the good programmers?

What happened to all the good programmers in Tokyo?

PS3 was supposed to make programmers important again. Nintendo and Microsoft just made them all lazy.

Yeah no of course you can't.

You only spam an attack at them until the Simon game comes up. Then you play Simon.

The Last Remnant doesn't seem like it will be anything special.  Infinite Undiscovery looks amazing as it always does.  SO4 is also going to be awesome.

The Last Remnant has the stink of UE3 all over it.  It's just hard looking at it and not thinking about LO, which I didn't like.  Still getting the game though.

if you glance at it quickly, the character art from those three jrpgs doesn't just look like it's all from one game -- it looks like it's the same two people. is there a more creatively moribund genre anywhere? no

Infinite Undiscovery will probably be the best "next gen" JRPG this year.  Go for that.

I'm not sure how long it will be.  On average a J-RPG can range from 30 to 100+ hours.

Fable 2 will probably be a really short story game, but have tons of other side quests and things like that to do.  Fallout 3 will also probably be really long with all the side quests.

Fallout 3 is going to be nothing like Fallout 1 and 2.  From the previews and stuff, it is basically Oblivion with guns.

If that egm doesn't convince you that japan is a creative wasteland for gaming, nothing will.

Like I said, I don't see anything in the rest of the world that is convincing me they are creatively inclined... maybe Little Big Planet and that one FPS platformer hybrid game that I forgot the name of. At least Japan is still making 2D.
