That, or CEOs could just get it right the first time.  Its kind of why they are getting paid the amount they do.

Most of these guys know what they are doing.  They whine and bitch about government regulations (which are pretty much a breeze to get around in the first place) and as soon as they get their hands on something unregulated, they plunge their companies into chaos.  5 years of prosperity with 2 years of utter disaster that ruin a 100+ year business because they thought they were smarter than they really were.  More importantly, there are executives that full well knew the financial health of the business and just hoped to leave on a golden parachute before anyone realizes it was them who fucked it up.

McCain's solution of passing the buck is pretty dangerous because you know he is going to hire a radical pro-business czar who believes the answer is government subsidies and soft on white collar crime.  Since we're not even at the end of all this shit, that bailout number may be far higher than $600 billion if this "policy czar" were hired.

Why do Democrats still attack her as if she is running for President? She's not. She is the VP pick. And unless something bad happens to McCain if he wins the election (notice I said if there), she won't be President.

Because taking over as president in an emergency is practically the VP's ONLY job.  What, she was picked for her outstanding ability to make tiebreaking votes in the Senate?  The odds of McCain being incapacitated early in his term might be low, but the VP exists almost solely as a backstop for that event.

It would be like if we appointed a completely unqualified hack to run FEMA, because what are the odds that some giant storm will wipe out a major American city?  Oh wait.

My only thing with that is I feel that by focusing on her, Democrats are making a mistake. As I said before, I feel that focusing on her is a mistake for Democrats. Just my feelings on the matter.

As far as Katrina went, I don't think there is anyone who can say that wasn't a screwup.
