Hey you piss drinking mongoloid, if Obama is a socialist for wanting to raise the top bracket's tax rate to 39%, what the fuck does that make Nixon, who had it at 70%?

Am I disagreeing with you about Nixon?

Maybe the Powell endorsement was a clever way of getting the jury to turn on his ass.

"If Powell endorsed Obama what do we really know about Powell..."

So you would agree that Richard "I marched in lockstep with Joe McCarthy" Nixon was arguably more socialist than Obama?

Now you guys see why I just want to sterilize all Republicans, eh?

I wonder if there will be any execution murders of blacks if Obama wins. Sounds like these distinguished mentally-challenged fellows didn't have a plan on getting to Obama but the threat of walking into a high school and blasting it up is very real.

Racism and prejudice will never disappear. It's probably older than the wheel. And lets not forget that white people are the only people who act on their prejudices. Minorites are just as racist towards each other and towards white people too. It sucks yeah of course, but affirmative action isnt doing anything at all.

But whites are the ones who have predominantly acted out their prejudices by enslaving other people and promoting supremacist views for hundreds of years. Your point?

I don't support affirmative action based on race. It should be based on income imo, at least with respect to school admissions

Whites were dominating other races because they could. I'd imagine it's easy for one group to foster a sense of supremacy when it is actively and successfully dominating so many other ethnic groups (people who were just as happy to engage in slave trade themselves, only of course on a much smaller scale).

Translated quote from Swedish skinhead dolt: "It's a fact that these refugees all get new cars and new houses when they come here. But the government is keeping that a secret!"

McCain's economic policies are so anti-reality

he always talks about "housing investments" instead of "homes"

and thinks normal people care about the capital gains tax. or know what it is.

Or "buying that small business they've always dreamed of owning." As if most people could ever think to aspire to that, or as if they want to deposit large sums of money into a risky venture anytime soon.

I just saw the video of the Biden Quesiton.  :lol :lol So awesome, even if Oabam isnt a communist, its good that he cleared it up.

I don't support affirmative action, but I do support some measure that would counter the tremendous lingering racism that defines American livelihood.  The biggest problem regarding discrimination/inequality that I have with narrowminded conservatives is their insistence that Life Is Fair.  And their simultaneous acknowledgement of racism and denial of its effects.   Which is just mind bloggling.   Yes, mind blogggling.

WHen you say "the solution to this poverty upon minorities/mexicans/blacks is that they stop their gangsta ways and start working hard and earn their higher living," what you esentially say is "Racism doesn't really exist in any meaningful ways, becuase them blacks are too prone for stupidity, laziness, and plain ol' barbaricness."

Oppose AA if you want, oppose unrestrained spending in assistance programs, but if the "solution" is basically ignoring hte problem, then your mental capacities are prolly stranded on an island.  Which is par for the course for a libertarian.

Biden cant handle the heat.

Anyone have another video of this? Or a transcript? I have no idea what it is.

I'll just summarize:

News anchor: Senator Biden, now that the American people know that Senator Obama is a communist, are his election hopes crushed?

Biden: Obama isn't a communist; he has merely promised the largest tax break for the middle class.

News anchor: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a famous quote by Marx -- Senator Biden, why does Obama believe this to be true?

Biden: Look, I already said that Obama isn't communist. I'm not sure who's writing your questions or who falsely supposed that Obama agreed with that--

News Anchor: Senator Biden, why does Obama keep a portrait of Lenin on his wall?

Biden: He doesn't keep a portrait of Lenin on his wall; he just support the largest tax break for the middle cla--

News Anchor: Senator Biden, is Obama a communist?

Biden: No, he's not, I've already answered this. To be frank this is silly.

News Anchor: We appreciate your admission that Senator Obama is a communist. Thank you for your time Senator Biden.

A lot of bitter cynicism floating around the internet that Democrats numbers are high so they can vote AGAINST Obama.

That shit is ridiculous.  Given Obama's turnouts, his surprise performances in primaries in places like Iowa, and the total lack of information about a Democrats for McCain drive, this is nothing but bitter cynicism.  I think some Democrats want Obama to fail so they can point and say, "See!  See!  I knew Obama never had a chance in the first place!"  STFU.

There are many reasons why Bush won in 2004.  This was the peak of the Christian conservative movement.  Bush was able to successfully manage the Neocons and the Theocons.  McCain is losing a lot of the former and struggling with the other.  Not to mention that a lot of people voted Bush so he could see through the end of the Iraq War which in 2004, most people were starting to get skeptical but figured a 2005-2006 exit was in the cards.  What does McCain have here?  Nothing even remotely there that Bush had for his second term.  They can't be compared.

If there is this mass movement, we would have seen something by now.  People aren't very good at hiding their intentions.  I'm just not convinced that there is this movement.  Whatever small numbers of Democrats For McCain is probably countered by Republicans For Obama.

The public also is scared of higher tax rates because they've been turned into useful idiots to pander for the rich.  Obama might give relief but the fact that some taxes are getting raised somewhere is enough for millions of Americans to start shitting their pants.  They will never see Obama's side either.  They had the chance in four debates, rallies, various press coverages, etc.  If people are certain that Obama is a socialist, they will not give up these notions now.  A lot of it still comes down to his race.  He's too much of an unknown and because he runs a tight campaign, people can't find too many flaws to pick.  Now the socialist angle is now vulnerable, even if it is incorrect.  I expect the last few days to be nothing but drilling the idea that Obama is a pinko, in hopes of securing some of the more conservative states that may go to Obama (West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, Missouri, and Indiana)

Trailer trash wants a message that is quick and to the point.  "Obama is a commie" works better than "Well, if you take into account the new tax rates..."  Too much explanation for the Pabst Blue Ribbon crowd.  If you're explaining, you're losing.

The fact that McCain essentially threw his old principles under the bus to appeal to the far right is pretty damning about his character and integrity.  I bet he wished that he never would have made a run to the far right to appeal to the conservatives who thought he wasn't one.  In the end, they would have voted for him anyway.  He didn't need to prove himself on that front; they'd be pissed but they'd vote for him anyway.  Then when he was dancing to the tune of Rush Limbaugh, Obama went and snatched up all the moderates.

Sarah Palin isn't exactly scary because if push came to shove, she would get demolished.  Without McCain's guardian angels trying to clean up her many messes, she would be in a much worse position.  I hope that the GOP is so deluded that they think Palin is the ticket and will get her to be the Presidential candidate in 2012.  They'll never accept a Mormon like Romney, especially now that the GOP has essentially purged everyone who are not middle aged white males.

Palin is like Nixon x 10.  At least Bush would pretend to bring some intelligence to the table.  Not since Nixon has there been a political candidate for higher office so hell bent on being anti-intellectual.

You've never read any Marx, have you?

(I should really be able to outsource all these posts to tennin)

what was your previous ID, t exp?

and for the record, Marx, like many left wingers, had at the least the sense to say "Dude we have a FUCKING problem with society.  10y.o. are working for a future-less slavery life, and the same damn families are living like pre-democracy aristocrats of old."  He made alot of really reaching conclusions and of course, his famous brain haired solutions.  But damn, at the least he actually pointed out there were huge problems.  Which back then took some serious guts.  Not to mention, I think the man was the earliest male feminist, i think.

After the Stevens guilty verdict, among some other very close races (Franken), the chances are pretty good.

Well, the last time Nate at 538 ran the probabilities it was at 32%, but that was before the Stevens conviction.  It now looks like there are five certain pick-ups for the Dems- AK, VA, CO, NM and NH, two where the Dems are favored in OR and NC and one pure toss-up in MN that I myself would rate as leaning Dem.  So you have 8 Senate seats that are liable to switch to Democratic control, which gets you to 59.  Then there are three southern races to watch- KY, MS and GA.  The most likely outcome is that the GA races goes to a runoff because of a weird Georgia law where if nobody gets 50% +1 of the vote you have a runoff with the top two in a month.  There's a Libertarian that has consistently been polling at 4-5% in the race, so a 60 seat super majority could come down to a month long overtime in Georgia where both parties wage a bloody, no holds barred war to see who can get their supporters to turn out.  I'd imagine that a President-elect Obama would probably campaign pretty heavily for Democrat Jim Martin, hopefully spurring turnout among African-Americans.  I'd say that the MS and KY races will probably narrowly go to the Republicans.

Indeed.  As a longtime fan of nerdlinger baseball statfreaks in general and Nate's work at Baseball Prospectus in particular (PECOTA!) I was not surprised in the least to find out during the primaries that some guy going by the nom de plume "pablano" and running an electoral projection website was in reality Nate Silver.  The analysis at 538 has been top notch from the get go, and the day that really "made" Nate was the May 6th NC/IN primary, where the conventional wisdom had Hillary winning by 8-10 in Indiana and Obama barely eking out a win in North Carolina.  Obviously that wasn't the case, and Nate called it way ahead of time, thus cementing his rep.  I look forward to seeing how closely his projections compare to the actual results on the 5th.

Frankly, I for one think the high water mark will come in 2010 when a still demoralized and confused GOP loses yet more Senate seats.  They have to defend 19 versus 15 for the Dems, and pretty much all of the Dems are safe except for maybe one or two.  Plenty of opportunities for Dem Senate seat pick ups in 2010.

Yeah Obama winning is going to be one of the 'big events' of my lifetime, right up there with the berlin wall n shit.

9/11 never forget!  You forgot.

Triumph: I hope the Democrats can keep up the momentum for 2010, so the good guys can do all the sleazy redistricting this round.

so now that Obama winning is more or less a foregone conclusion, what are your big hopes for next Tuesday?

I'd really like to see a 60-seat majority that casts Judas Lieberman out into the wilderness. That fucker couldn't be marginalized fast enough for me.

On a personal note, I would really love to see a Blue Indiana or Blue Georgia. I have good friends in both locations who are great people and fighting hard for an Obama victory. More to the point, I think that taking either (or both) of those would go a long way towards discrediting the Republicans' strategy of racist fundamentalism. I mean, if you can't take Georgia by appealing to people's lesser natures, what's left? Alabama?

Big hopes for Tuesday

- Obama getting over 360 EVs.
- 60 seat supermajority in the Senate
- A surprise Obama victory in Georgia and North Dakota.  It would be even better if Obama secured Arizona (+4 for McCain right now) but that is probably pushing it.
- Many public meltdowns in the right wing media (especially the radio)

I also agree with The Card Cheat - the GOP will lose more seats in 2010.  There will be too much infighting and too many GOP members that believed they didn't move to the right enough, resulting in McCain's loss.  They will move themselves so far to the right and into total irrelevance.
