Yeah, I'd love to see a blue Georgia. But I'll even say that I'll be happy with even a blue Ohio, for once. This state is fucking horrible, but there are decent people here that can shit all over the southern Ohio assholes trying to get Palin as Jesusette. I want to be able to go into Canton or Akron on Tuesday and shake hands with people I don't even know, telling them "you rock distinguished black fellow".

edit: Oh and a Hannity meltdown. I'd love to see something epic, like Scanners epic.

Blue North Dakota and Montana would be great from a visual standpoint - it would bridge the blue areas on the map and give Obama an obvious geographic mandate. But I don't think they would have the same cultural resonance with me that either Indiana or Georgia would.

I've given up on Ohio - too evil and too corrupt. I can bring myself to believe Florida turns blue before Ohio will.

I don't even know anymore. Like you, I know a few people really giving it their all to try and get Obama to win this state. Hell, one certain guy took a semester off from fucking YALE to come home and work on the campaign for 5 months, from the start of his summer break. I'd be upset if his efforts didn't pay off.

By the way, if anyone is interested, the Obama rally that he had in Ohio yesterday? The guy who spoke before him? That's the friend I was talking about. He rocks.

On a personal note, it would be really awesome to see blue GA and blue NC on election night. There are some specific things I'd also like to see, and since I'm a vengeful fucker they're all on the petty side:

-John Shadegg in AZ-03 losing. Shadegg is the darling of the far right nutbars in the House and on the intertubes. Having him lose would be awesome- there's no better way to demoralize the enemy than to kill their generals. Bonus: he holds John McCain's old House seat.
-The odious and corrupt Diaz-Balart brothers in south Florida losing.
-Al Franken winning, because it will infuriate the flapping heads on the right that he's clashed with in the past.
-Darcy Burner winning in WA-08. The liberal loonies on the intertubes have invested lots of time and money into this race, after having Darcy barely lose in '06. The opposition is pushing back hard because if she loses it discredits the idea that the liberal blogosphere can have influence in races. Plus she's a very progressive Democrat.
-Jim Martin beating the nefarious Saxby Chambliss in the GA Senate race. I don't think he'll win outright but this could be heading to a run off thanks to that weird GA law.
-Mitch McConnell losing to Bruce Lunsford. Revenge for Daschle in '04.
-Michelle Bachmann losing in Minnesota.

Probably out of reach, but having Eric Cantor and Virgil Goode of Virginia lose their House seats would also be awesome.

I should go contribute to AZ-03 and WA-08. AZ-03 in particular. As others have said, it's hard to pick your battles this cycle with so many great pickup opportunities. But AZ-03 would be sahweeeeet.

All sorts of polls have shown the Presidential race in AZ within the margin of error this week, with McCain consistently polling below 50%. That would be the ultimate "fuck you", like Bush beating Gore in TN in 2000.

It seems like the South is no longer vital to winning the presidency. Obama could be losing in every Southern state including Florida and still command a comfortable electoral majority. I wonder what the implications are for the future of the region in presidential politics...although I guess that depends on what happens to the GOP this election.

I think if the Republican Party does become the American version of the National Front they'll still win votes in the Deep South but they'll begin to lose traction in the Rim South.
