You guys were right about The Ghost Writer. So, so good. Final shot was so fucking brilliant.
More people need to see this. It's Polanski's best since Chinatown.

I rented it from Blockbuster but never got around to watching it. Now I'm too scared to rent it again for fear of them being like "lol you rented this already"  :'(

Just watched Cliffhanger.  This is maybe the funniest movie ever made.  :bow

imdb perfectly captures the intensity of this scene:

Kynette: Time to kill a mountain man.
Kynette: It amazes me, in this day and age, when a man would put money before the personal safety of himself and his bitch.
Kynette: I wanted you to go to your grave knowing that I'm going to treat the bitch... right!
[Gabe suddenly grabs Kynette by the crotch and chest and impales him on a large stalactite]

Soon you wont be able to rent it from Blockbuster. They filled bankruptcy recently. Online renting has killed them off.

From what I read a while back, they'll be okay after they kill off unprofitable stores and get rid of tons of debt.  Most of their stores are still profitable apparently.

i forgot to post this yesterday...

Wall Street
Wanted to watch it again (i was a kid and only watched it because the box mentioned goodfellas in some way) before the sequel came out.  It was damn good.  Besides some of the 80's music and fashion and some sketchy acting, it's superb.  The story, pacing, everything is just great.  I really loved it.

He's always been a good writer / director.

It took him a decade to follow up on Good Will Hunting, between all kinds of terrible appearances in some of the worst movies ever made, and Gone Baby Gone was his first directoral effort.  I think it's okay to be surprised by his recent success.

Sweet I found Devil spoilers

sounds like another F. Night Shamalayan opus minimus

FULL SPOILERS BELOW

spoiler (click to show/hide)
OK, so there are Five people in an elevator all literally credited as Old Woman, Young Woman, Mechanic, Guard, and Salesman. There is also a cop on the scene who is an ex-alcoholic. His alcoholism stems from having his family killed in a hit and run 5 years ago. He tries to keep the people on the elevator calm. The people on the elevator die in the following order: Salesman, Old Woman, Guard, Young Woman.

Now you may have noticed that one person is left out of the list, The Mechanic.. That's because he doesn't die and no he's not the Devil. He was intended to be the last one to die and he was supposed to die in front of the person who loved him most (his fiance had ran into the building to see what was going on). And here's the twist, the mechanic is the guy who hit the cops family 5 years ago in the hit and run. So when the devil finally faced him, he manned up and admitted what he did over the radio to everyone in the building (including the cop and his fiance). The devil gets pissed and after a stare down with the mechanic, it leaves.

The movie ends with the cop taking the mechanic to jail, saying that he forgives him for what he did to his family.

So who was the Devil? The Old Woman. You can guess it right off the bat since she's a total bitch in the first 5 minutes of the movie.

Prince of Persia Sands of Time

It wasn't that bad.  There was nothing to really going on and the action was pretty dull.  My criteria going in was "I hope this crummy looking action movie is better than the last crummy looking action movie I got from Netflix (Clash of the Titans)" and at leastthat turned out to be true.  The ending did suck and that was the main reason I wanted to watch it.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The ending to the game when the Prince is greedy and kisses Farah only to turn back time right after and drop a hint that he knew her well enough was awesome.  The movie just kinda ends with no real clever use of the Prince's future knowledge.  Part of it is probably because the characters didn't have any, uh, character.
