I really, really don't like Million Dollar Baby.  I love most Clint Eastwood films, but it bored me to tears.  Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Hey, watching ugly woman knock each other down is pretty entertaining.  But everything else... zzzzzzz.  Morgan Freeman must get some ridiculous bonus for narrating whatever he is in.  I imagine he would be sick of it otherwise.
:lol :lol

I was expecting so much more when I watched it for some reason.  I saw it on TV the other night too and decided to try it again (it was about 30 minutes in) and I watched it for about ten minutes and said fuck this.  Swank annoys the fuck out of me.

And all I ever think of when I hear Morgan Freeman's voice now is the goddamned Shawshank Redemption.

whatever

it's about a young woman saving up pennies to realise her dead father's dream

that's like high grade bawling material - it's a cartoon so it got away with being pretentiously sentimental, like Avatar.

Well first I cried because even though I finally got to see Rachel McAdams nude from behind, I was sad to learn she had a tramp stamp!

I think that was the quickest erection and subsequent flaccidity I've ever experienced.

recently watched 400 blows. even knowing how the film famously ended, it still had quite an affect on me. truffaunt did a great job in capturing adolescence as it is and not through some nostalgic lens making antoine's story easily relatable. i would've shed a tear but having had just watched a time travelers wife before...  :'(

also watched the hangover, which i probably should've seen in the theater drunk because other than zach galifianakusuasudusd, i wasn't laughing much. could've been cabin fever.

Saw Terminator 3 again, I love that movie.  I realise I'll be called utterly distinguished mentally-challenged but I like it more than the first two, mainly because I don't like Linda Hamilton or the kid that played John Connor in T2.

The crane truck action scene is probably my favourite big action scene of all time, only slightly ruined by the blatant CG at the end when the truck flips.

T3 also has the best kill in the entire series (steering wheel).

yeah, its a jokey movie, but it does its own thing and isn't a pale and soulless imitation of the previous films in the series (Terminator: Salvation, for example).  I read a review that dubbed it an "overachieving, mercenary sequel."  I think that just about sums it up.

Man, Skynet was so lackluster in Salvation. Its like, earlier in the movie you have this multistory robot fucking shit up and then we go to Skynet and its a bunch of Termintors hanging around with bandanas.

RIDDICK

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118015101.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Quote
Vin Diesel is going back to the future to topline and produce a third chapter in the "Chronicles of Riddick" franchise.

Universal will handle domestic distribution on the sci-fi film, which is titled "Riddick." Lionsgate is selling international rights at the Berlin Film Festival.

David Twohy -- who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick" -- will helm from a screenplay he penned.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit "Pitch Black" and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the critically panned "Chronicles of Riddick." Still, "Chronicles of Riddick" earned $116 million worldwide and spawned a successful vidgame series.

Dates are being worked out for "Riddick" so as not to overlap with Universal's fifth installment of "Fast and Furious," which will shoot sometime this year with Diesel onboard to star and produce.

Diesel and Samantha Vincent are producing "Riddick" through their One Race Films banner. Radar Films' Ted Fields is also producing.

Twohy most recently wrote and directed "A Perfect Getaway."

I'd be fine with that. The best stuff in Pitch Black was the character interaction, and the worst stuff from Chronicles was trying to auto-generate a huge Warhammer 40K background universe for him to inhabit. Necromongers? Really?

It only gets worse from there.

Somebody told me it picks up a bit with 5 and 6, but that could have been a lie. I'm not really a gorehound, but I kinda liked the mythos they'd built up in the series with Jigsaw and then Amanda, but now that they're both dead, I don't have a good feeling about the rest of the series.
