The costume looks like shit.  Why is Peter Sarsgaard fat in this?  He has a double-chin in that poster.

EDIT: Green Man, I don't hate Reynolds, but he's an actor with fairly limited skills.  He's not right for the role.  He should be playing Deadpool or the Flash - sarcastic wiseasses, basically.

watched What's Up, Tigerlily on saturday and it's so fucking horrible.  totally a failure on Woody Allen's part.  I hadn't seen it in like 20 years so my fond memories were tainted by being divorced from the present.

so godawful.

You should have watched Kung Pow: Enter the Fist instead.

Edge of Darkness

This really grabbed me and I thought it an all-round great movie - pacing, storyline, cast.  I thought the violent action parts were stupendous, they were used sparingly but had tons of impact when they happened.  Awesome characters and character interactions.

Martin Campbell makes good movies.

The Green Zone LITERALLY looks like another Bourne flick. This time he's in Iraq!

I mean, the box art has the same font as the Bourne flicks and the same Matt Damon: SERIOS BUSINESS pose. And isn't he on the run from the CIA or NSA after threatening to expose some government conspiracy or bureaucracy?

Pretty much. He is playing Jason Bourne basically exactly the same. There is almost no difference between the two Damon characters at all.

It's Jason Bourne goes to Iraq, finds out there are no WMDs, and then goes on the run as they try to suppress the truth!

The only Pixar movies that I thought had any real imagination are Incredibles, Up, and Wall-E.  I mean, it felt like they were really perfect at showing how kids saw things.

I think the reason people got uptight about Up was that they projected their own hype/expectations on it.  The only thing I knew/saw about the movie before watching it was this trailer:

Scott did OK it though. It was the studio heads that didn't.
Studio heads turned down a sequel to a major money earner and oscar winning film with the original director on board? That script must have really freaked them out.  :lol

There was a pretty long synopsis posted somewhere.  Did you ever read it? It was nuts, really nuts.

And I don't think it could've worked as its own thing because the relationship between the kid from the first movie and Maximus and his own feelings of loss for his wife and son came into play.

If Scott was allowed to make it I could see there being a split between people thinking it is Scott's best movie ever or the worst movie ever. It seemed that weird.

The movie that is effectively Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2, Robin Hood ended up being pretty meh anyway.

Green Zone was way dissapointing.  I'll give it props for good intentions, but the timing is about five years too late, the action is somehow even more incoherent, and a great cast is largely wasted (how do you not make better use of Jason Isaccs as your villian).

Its not bad, exactly, but it doesn't trust the audience to know anything at all about the war.  Its like a hectoring magazine article with the occasional badly staged gunfight.

I honestly got more enjoyment out of The Last Airbender then I did Green Zone, and the former ain't no prize either.

its not good by any means, but there's a few long tracking shots with shitloads of well-cheorographed action.  I'm an easy mark for that kinda thing.  Also, that Slumdog Millionare kid was pretty decent in it, and at least I could SEE WHAT WAS FUCKING HAPPENING during the action scenes.

The special effects, acting, dialog, etc.  Many factors suck in The Last Airbender, but at least its got a base competency.  So yeah, Shymalan made a movie that sucks less then his last coupla features, its no great achivement, but I didn't feel the need to go punch the director in the gonads like I did after Lady in the Water, hell, that's a big damn improvment.
